Tan Hoon Cheng sent to police HQ in Kuala Lumpur



Sin Chew Daily (Chinese) & HERE (English) newspaper reporter Ms. Tan Hoon Cheng 32 years of age, who was arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) on Friday night, was sent to Bukit Aman (police HQ) in Kuala Lumpur at about 08:30 today, Saturday 13th September 2008.

Prior to that her parents were allowed to see her at the Penang police headquarters.

Tan, who was picked up at 20:40 on Friday night, was taken from her house in Taman Seri Rambai in Bukit Mertajam to the state police headquarters on the island.

Tan, had reported former Bukit Bendera UMNO division chief Ahmad Ismail’s racist remarks whilst he was campaigning for the Permatang Pauh by-election.

For truthful reporting Tan has been detained under the draconian ISA, whilst Ahmad was just given a three year suspension by his own political party!
