Malaysian blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin has been detained under the Internal Security Act, his wife Marina Lee Abdullah said he was arrested at 13:10 when a group of 10 police personnel came to his house.
The power to arrest anyone under the draconian catch-all ISA rests with the Minister of Home Affiars Hamid Albar.
Meanwhile three Malaysian newspapers (Sin Chew Daily, The Sun and Suara Keadilan) have each been issued with show cause letter under Printing Presses and Publications Act, this may be a precursor to their printing permits being revoked, which will effectively shut them down.
Their only offences will have been to report the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
UMNO / BN are truly desperate now, they are shooting themselves in the foot, by resorting to arbitrary indefinite detention, intimidation, and even more suppression of information than is usual in third-world undemocratic
Such action will serve only hasten their demise.
