Sweeping crescent-shaped roofs

The two sweeping crescent-shaped roofs, a three-dimensional star is mounted atop the smaller roof, were supposed to project the culture of Terengganu state.

The crescent shaped roof structure the larger of which recently collapsed, covered the main grandstand and the royal box (west stand), consisted of a column less steel space-framed system, externally supported by vertical and angled reinforced concrete rectangular beam columns on the outer eaves of the lower rim of the roof.

The roof covering was made from metal sheets with a glass skylight in the shape of a star on the smaller roof of the east stand.

Floodlights were placed at the edges of the space-framed roofing.

Die Like a Frog in Shameless Malaysia

VALUELESS LIVES 'MATI KATAK' IN MALAYSIA

POLICE INDIFFERENCE & IGNORANCE

In Malaysia life seems to be so cheap, and should anyone be unfortunate enough to die in road accident, better not expect any support from the authorities, especially the police.

As happened in Johor Bahru North, the police will be more likely to blame the motorist rather that the local authority or the Public Works Department who have not maintained the road.

See this news report:

'A 36-year-old hairdresser was killed when she fell off a motorcycle which hit a pothole'

from The Star by clicking HERE

'The pot hole was LESS THAN A FOOT (30 cm) DEEP said the OCPD'

Extract from the news report:

"Johor Baru (North) deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Akhir Ishak said Lee died of head injuries and police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.

He said Lee’s helmet could have become loose and fallen off when she hit the ground.

He added that the pothole was less than a foot deep."

Other shameful events have occurred in the past few days, is Malaysia cursed?

Perhaps it is cursed, but the lazy, unproductive, non-enforcing, lackadaisical and complaisant public servants are more probably the root cause of many of Malaysia's problems.

The Remodelled Gong Badak Stadium

DUMB PRIDE IN A SHODDY STADIUM

The pride of the state of Terengganu, the RM300million Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu became a heap of twisted metal when its roof collapsed yesterday, only one year after it was opened.

RULES IGNORED, DEATH TRAPS RESULT

The Department of Occupational Safety and Health had not give approval for the demolition of the Jaya Supermarket in Petaling Jaya, before the work was begun, the structure collapsed killing seven workers recently.

PREPOSTEROUSLY PIOUS RUDE PRUDES

Selangor Religious Department (JAIS) workers raided an actors fiancée's apartment in Petaling Jaya, reported Harian Metro, according to The Star, click HERE

The unnamed actor, in his twenties, who acts in a mystic and horror TV series, managed to climb to the next balcony on the fifth floor at 3am recently.

The five JAIS goons raided the apartment after receiving complaints from busy-body neighbours (peeping-toms or spies) that the actor and his fiancée would meet up frequently at her home.

Serious crime is rampant in Malaysia and so much time effort is wasted on stupid and pathetic raids like this which invade the privacy of individuals.

The targets should be the rapists, wife beaters, paedophiles and child abusers.

Perhaps JAIS actually stands for Jealous Antediluvian Insomniac Shameful?

Hotels on Islands off East Coast of Malaysia discharging raw sewage directly into the sea

Raw sewage flows into the once pristine waters

This is what can be called: "SHITTING IN THEIR OWN NESTS!"

Unidentified hotels and holiday resorts are amongst the culprits who are seriously, and most likely permanently, damaging the rich ecosystem which is to be found off the coats of the states of Terengganu and Johor, Malaysia.

According to local media reports HERE the hotel owners / operators are unwilling to invest in a pipe connection to oxidation ponds and have been discharging untreated sewage and effluents directly into the once pristine sea off the east coast of Peninsular
Malaysia, adversely affected aquatic species and coral found in the gazetted marine parks off the islands.

The areas lying within a two nautical mile (3.7 kilometre) radius (Except for Pulau Kapas, where it is within a one nautical mile ( 1.85 kilometre) radius) from the shores of these islands are Gazetted Marine Parks. Fishing and potentially damaging activities are prohibited within these marine park zones.

“1994

  • 38 islands in the state of Kedah, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor and Federal Territory of Labuan were declared and gazetted as Marine Parks Malaysia under the Fisheries Act, 1985, which covers water stretching 2 nautical miles from the shore to the surrounding islands (exception for Pulau Kapas where marine park waters covers one nautical mile seaward from the outermost points of the island – Second Schedule)”. [of the Fisheries Act 1985]

2007

  • Effective on 16th of July 2007, Marine Park Section {of the Fisheries Department] officially it becomes Department of Marine Park Malaysia with job growth as many as 154 new positions in addition to 86 present posts.

Souce: http://www.dmpm.nre.gov.my/jtl/content.php?lang=1&ctn_trans_id=296

More jobs for the bureaucratic paper pushing boys and girls!

But, almost one year on, much of the website is still under construction!

These marine parks are rich in exotic marine life, about 500 species of coral reef and 300 species of fish thrive there.

Their future survival is now in serious jeopardy, the Terengganu State Commerce, Industry and Environment committee chairman Toh Chin Yaw has admitted that the poor waste disposal system had caused an adverse impact on the coral ecosystems surrounding the islands.

“We are aware of this and are working closely with environmentalists and other marine agencies to monitor the situation,” he said.

MORE THAN JUST MONITORING IS URGENTLY NEEDED!

Toh reportedly said most of the hotels and resorts operating in the islands felt the onus was on the Government to provide them with a proper sewage system.

“The operators should realise that there are existing drainage system at the isles and they should emulate the prominent hotels and resorts that comply with the requirement for waste management,” he said.

Passing the buck, is the usual modus operandi in Malaysia, he certainly confirmed this by saying, according to this news report (link as above) that "the Terengganu state government has no jurisdiction to act as marine parks come under the purview of a federal agency, the Marine Parks Department."

That maybe the case, but surely the Terengganu state government has control at least over the land use, and licensing of the hotels and resorts, as well as over waste disposal.

Could bribery and corruption be one of the reasons for the lack of action?

Perhaps it could be, not to mention avarice and greed!

“Malaysian coral reefs are being poisoned and choked by organic pollution and sedimentation, particularly from construction near the Palau Redang marine reserve. Reefs off Sabah are being overexploited, and the Malay Peninsula's reefs as a whole are expected to decline significantly due to increasing water pollution and sediment loads during the next 20 years.”

For more information click HERE & HERE

Unidentified hotels and holiday resorts on several holiday islands are among the culprits who are irreparably damaging the rich coral ecosystem found off the coast ot Terengganu.

As a consequence, soon coral reefs will be perhaps no more, how very sad for the future generations.

Action now is needed to preserve the irreplaceable coral ecosystems

The Terengganu MB begins work

Ahmad Said receiving his letter of appointment

Kijal (UMNO) assemblyman Ahmad Said began his first day of work as Terengganu Mentri Besar at his office in Wisma Darul Iman in Kuala Terengganu at 8am today, Tuesday 25 March 2008.

His supporters were seen gathered outside the office complex and there was a heavy police presence, but no incidents were reported.

One of his first statements as MB, Ahmad was that he intended to continue the work of the previous MB Idris Jusoh.

"It would have been difficult not to accept the position of Terengganu Mentri Besar as I had been selected by the palace," he said.

He also was reported as saying he hoped that the 22 UMNO assemblymen who had protested against his appointment would "cool down soon" to enable him to appoint his state executive councillors.

Yesterday, Monday, Ahmad Said had reiterated that his appointment as Menteri Besar by means of the letter bestowed to him on Sunday by the Terengganu Regency Advisory Council was sufficient, as it was made in accordance with the state’s laws and that he need not be sworn in, before being able to carry out his duties as MB.

Are the Terengganu UMNO worms a-turning?

Latest news , Malaysiakini reported this news on 24 March 2008 at 6.43pm

…….in a sudden turn of events, it is reliably learnt that 13 out of 22 Terengganu BN elected state representatives who had initially supported Idris Jusoh as Menteri Besar, are now backing Ahmad Said for the post.

Ahmad Said, who received his letter of appointment as Menteri Besar of Terengganu from the Ruler yesterday, is due to be sworn in soon.

The Prime Minister has backed the former MB, Idris Jusoh to be reappointed as MB

If the latest news is indeed true then UMNO is cracking, crumbling and slowly and surely disintegrating.

This turn of events is not unexpected, the coming days will reveal more, but of course the mainstream media will be suppressing the truth, as is normal in Malaysia, for as long as possible.

We are living in interesting times.

The Terengganu Tremors (updated)

For another view, check what was in the Straits Times of Singapore today HERE

UMNO seem hell bent on getting their own way, now the AG is seeking an audience with HM The King, according to the Malaysian media.

There must be a lot to lose for certain parties if the previous MB is not reappointed, hence the high drama and back biting, as well as the disrespect to the Sultan of Terengganu.

UMNO commits Lèse majesté

UMNO commits Lèse majesté against
HRH Sultan of Terengganu

HRH Sultan of Terengganu, currently the King of Malaysia, has been insulted by UMNO, who have clearly committed 'lèse majesté', see the article in the Star which is linked below.

HRH THE KING

UMNO have unashamedly insulted the authority of the Ruler of the State of Terengganu, HRH The Sultan of Terengganu, who is represented by the Regent of Terengganu, who being a minor is advised by the Regency Advisory Council of Terengganu.

Aiseman wrote this:

"They’ve stripped the dude who wanted to be Terengganu Menteri Besar of his Umno membership.

That means he is now an independent state assemblyman. So he can’t be Menteri Besar now because he definitely does not command the support of the majority of the assembly.

The thing is, he didn’t even have the support of the majority when he was still an Umno assemblyman. The Umno buggers in the state wanted Idris Jusoh; they still do.

Idris Jusoh commands the support of the majority, and therefore he should be sworn in as Menteri Besar, not the now-independent ADUN from Kijal. That is the law.

What’s with the Sultan? I’ll tell you what’s with the Sultan, who is also the Agong.

His objections to swearing in Idris Jusoh might not be legal, but they sure are moral and ethical.

The Sultan is sick and tired of Idris Jusoh, not only because he is corrupted, but also because he’s amounted to nothing more than KJ’s errand boy.

He’s sick and tired of the state’s petroleum royalties being used to fund ostentatious and over-priced projects that have brought very little direct benefit to the people of Terengganu, the second poorest state in the country, but have enriched Umno buggers in the state."............................

BN components support PM’s MB choice

KUALA TERENGGANU: The state MCA, Gerakan and MIC are standing behind Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi in his choice of Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh for Terengganu Mentri Besar.

State Gerakan chairman Yap Kea Ping said the air of uncertainty was unnerving, but he had full confidence in the Prime Minister and Idris.

“The majority of state assemblymen (22) have pledged their support to Idris and this is testament of his leadership,” he said.

“But we also know that the Istana has given an appointment letter to Ahmad (Kijal state assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Said), and we feel that the matter should be referred to the state legal adviser.”

To a question, Yap said he was in no position to make statements on the strife within the state Umno.

Similar notions of support for Abdullah also came from state MIC chairman R. Suppiah. “We support Pak Lah and his decision. That is all that needs to be said.”

State MCA deputy chairman Toh Chin Yaw said the party respected Abdullah’s choice of candidate for the post of Mentri Besar.

He said they would abide by all orders given by Abdullah, and that the MCA was confident of Idris leading the state for the second time.

Toh added that Terengganu had grown both economically and socially since Idris took over as Mentri Besar in 2004."

MCA and MIC spineless running-dogs are now blindly supporting UMNO's stand, therefore they are aiding and abetting the crime of Lèse majesté.

Lèse majesté (French) is an expression, from the Latin Laesa maiestas or Laesae maiestatis (crimen), (crime of) injury to the Majesty; in English, is can be also written as lese majesty (or leze majesty) is the crime of violating majesty, an offense against the dignity of a reigning sovereign.

Since the disappearance of absolute monarchies this may perhaps be viewed as a lesser crime, however such malicious acts, could be considered as treason.

THE PLOT THICKENS.
