BREAKING NEWS!
Raja Petra Kamarudin will be sent to the Kamunting Detention Centre today (23rd September 2008) to begin a two-year detention without trial under draconian and inhuman ISA 1960, according to his lawyer.
He will be held under section 8 of ISA, (see below) his detention can be renewed for an indefinite period.
RPK’s detention has been ordered by puppet,
Hamid Albar, Minister of Home Affairs.
Section 8 ISA:
Power to order detention or restriction of persons.
"(i) If the Minister is satisfied that the detention of any person is necessary with a view to preventing him from acting in any manner prejudicial to the security of Malaysia or any part thereof or to the maintenance of essential services therein or the economic life thereof, he may make an order (hereinafter referred to as a detention order) directing that that person be detained for any period not exceeding two years."

Hmmm.. They did not release him! Does he threaten the security of Malaysia? I am not sure but I don't think so.
The minister no doubt thinks that his political party UMNO is Malaysia, or a part thereof!
What kind of logic is this?
"If the Minister is satisfied that the detention of any person is necessary with a view to preventing him from acting in any manner prejudicial to the security of Malaysia or any part thereof or to the maintenance of essential services therein or the economic life thereof..."
Raja Petra is certainly an irritant, a thorn in the side of UMNO, but surely anyone with even half a brain can see RPK is not a threat to Malaysia's security, economy or essential services!
