Pathetic Whining by Rais Yatim at the UN General Assembly

Please read the story in the Straits Times, of Singapore, (see below) it could not be found in the Malaysian print media today, Sunday 28^th September 2008.

Rais Yatim is the Malaysian foreign minister, therefore when the PM Abdullah and DPM Najib, both declined to attend the UN General Assembly, Rais was the stand-in.

He apparently compared Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy case to the issue of the Guantánamo Bay detentions!

'We could if we choose question the legal basis of the Guantanamo Bay detention without trial but we did not,' Foreign Minister Rais Yatim told the UN General Assembly in a reference to the US-run prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for terrorism suspects.

'While same-sex fornication and marriage are acceptable in California, it does not mean that sodomy, which is a crime in many countries in Asia, is to be impugned or derided upon,' said Dr Rais, who did not directly mention the Anwar case.

What pathetic whining, is there nothing more important he has to say on behalf of Malaysia!!!!

What a shameful waste of public funds flying him and his team to the UN in New York!!
