Say NO to book banning

Yet another book
(politically unacceptable to UMNO?)
has been banned in Malaysia.

The latest banned book:
"The March To Putrajaya"
by Kim Quek

This is yet another nail in the coffin of freedom of speech and freedom of expression.

Even the freedom of thought is not encouraged in Malaysia!

What type of democratic system does Malaysia have?

It seems to more like a system stinking of dictatorial edicts, nepotism, feudalism, racism, which is run by pathetic, pigheaded, pompous, pie-in-the-sky politicians, who are a plague on Malaysia.

What is needed is more power to the people and free speech, freedom of expression, a free press and a truly democratic, open, unbiased and transparent system of governance.

These simple questions, and many more, need to be properly answered:

  • Why is Malaysia way far behind Singapore in every respect?
  • Where has all Malaysia's wealth gone to in the past half century?
  • Why is there still institutionalised racism in Malaysia?
  • Why do race and religion based political parties still thrive?
  • Why is religion so entwined with politics?
  • Why has corruption, from top to bottom, not been eradicated?

Cartoonist Arrested in Cartoonophobic Malaysia!

Cartoon-0-Phobia, front cover

Zunar holding his book of cartoons,
he was reported as saying that police seized 70 copies of his latest book,
called 'Cartoon-O-Phobia',
at his home and are holding him
ahead of its scheduled launch on Friday evening.

"The raid at his office and his arrest only go to prove that the authorities are cartoon-phobic,' said Steven Gan, chief editor of online news portal Malaysiakini, the publisher of 'Cartoon-O-Phobia' and some of Mr Zunar's earlier books.

'This is an attack on freedom of expression, it again shows that the authorities have no sense of humour.' Mr Gan said the 80-page book had a caricature of Prime Minister Najib Razak's wife on the front cover and contained cartoons that touched on numerous controversial issues." -- AFP

CANING OF WOMEN IN MALAYSIA. Malaysian Government further reins in media coverage

Now that the Star has shown a 'nauseating yellow streak', the new colour scheme as shown above may be more appropriate for their logo

Marina Mahathir decides to post her column on her blog after newspaper (The Star Malaysia) paper spikes her column

The Malaysia government reportedly has moved to restrict debate in the mainstream media on the caning of three Muslim women recently.

The country's largest English-Language newspaper (The Star) has refused to publish Marina Mahathir's regular column (Musings) on the issue of caning women.

An extract:

Folks, I'm posting here what should have been my Musings column tomorrow. The Star has refused to publish it because, after what happened to P. Gunasegaram's article which was pulled out after the Home Ministry gave them a show-cause letter, they don't want any 'sensitive' articles that may jeopardise their KDN permit.”

Another example of press censorship in Malaysia

A lady, Madam Teng Soon Moey, age 56 years, from Singapore, was stabbed in the back at her hotel in Genting Highlands, she was fortunate to survive.

The Malaysian media has not reported this news, I suppose they do not like news which reflects negatively on the feel-good bubble of bullshit that UMNO / BN creates.
