Full marks to Benigno Aquino, BRAVO!

Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III
born February 8, 1960)
also known as Noynoy
Aquino or PNoy,
is the fifteenth and the current President of the Philippines.

President Benigno Aquino's stand regarding contraception, as reported by AFP today, 27th September 2010, deserves accolades for his stand against the RC Church in the Philippines.

Please read the news item below.

Unwanted pregnancies should always be prevented

The Roman Catholic Church needs to get real, the priorities need to be adjusted.

In most, if not all ,developing countries with a large RC population, the vast majority of people are very poor, the Philippines is a prime example.

One of the reasons for this poverty is the very large number of children born tnto poor families who are denied access to free family planing education and contraception.

In my humble opinion the governments and the people of all nations should stand up against all archaic, oppressive, demeaning and illogical religious teachings which are detrimental to their prosperity, welfare, good health and well-being.

The Roman Catholic is filthy rich whilst their followers are generally as poor as church mice, how shameful this is!

Especially in poor countries with a high birth rate, more instruction, material and moral encouragement and free, or very cheap, and easily accessible contraception methods are absolutely vital.

"MANILA - THE Philippine government will provide contraceptives to poor couples who request it despite strong opposition from the dominant Roman Catholic church, President Benigno Aquino said on Monday.

Speaking in a satellite television interview from the United States where he is on a seven-day visit, Mr Aquino stressed that the number of children a couple had was a matter of personal choice.

'The government is obligated to inform everybody of their responsibilities and their choices. At the end of the day, government might provide assistance to those who are without means if they want to employ a particular method,' he said.

'I believe the couple will be in the best position to determine what is best for the family, how to space (the births), what methods they can rely on and so forth,' said Mr Aquino at a 'town hall' style meeting with expatriate Filipinos.

'They face the responsibility for the children that they bring in and government is willing to assist them.' Mr Aquino, a 50-year-old bachelor and a practising Catholic, was responding to questions about how he planned to curb population growth in the face of opposition from the church.

The church wields considerable influence in the Philippines, where more than 80 per cent of the population are Catholics, and has used its clout in the past to attack officials who champion artificial methods of birth control." -- AFP

Un-Islamic Football Jerseys

ENGLAND

KOSMO! a Malaysian tabloid rag popular amongst the Malay Language readers, which is well known for homing in on sensational news, recently carried a report about Muslims who wear football jerseys which display images of crosses, liquor brands and devils.

Johor Religious Council adviser Nooh Gadot reportedly said wearing such jerseys was forbidden in Islam.

“It is as if Muslims are worshipping and exalting the symbols of other religions. Islam does not compromise on this matter, regardless of whether it is worn for fun, fashion or sport,” he said.

Perak Mufti Harussani Zakaria was reported to have agreed with Nooh, saying, although Islam did not forbid its followers from participating in sports or dressing up, it has to be done within the boundaries of Islamic law.

Among the football teams whose crests carry images of the cross are England, Brazil, Portugal, Serbia, Barcelona and Norway, while Manchester United carries the “Red Devil” on its crest.

Malaysia seems to be becoming more like Iran with each passing week.

What next, goons going around spotting 'non-Islamic hair styles' and cutting the hair of transgressors?

BARCELONA

How utterly stupid and pathetic, have the religious authorities nothing better to do than concentrate on such trivia?

How about them getting stuck into reducing the high incidences of rape, incest, drug addition, anti-social behaviour, abandoning of new-born babies etc., all of which are, as is common knowledge and which has been extensively reported in Malaysian news media, more common amongst the Malays, who are Muslims, than among others in Malaysia?

Utterly Pathetic Stupidity!

Has Religion Made Useful Contributions to Civilization?

By Bertrand Russell

My own view on religion is that of Lucretius. I regard it as a disease born of fear and as a source of untold misery to the human race. I cannot, however, deny that it has made some contributions to civilization. It helped in early days to fix the calendar, and it caused Egyptian priests to chronicle eclipses with such care that in time they became able to predict them. These two services I am prepared to acknowledge, but I do not know of any others.

SOME EXAMPLES OF SHAMEFUL BEHAVOUR BY THE SEEMINGLY RELIGIOUS!

ISLAM

SAUDI ARABIA

Amnesty International is calling on Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah to stop the execution of a Lebanese man sentenced to death for "sorcery."

According to Arab News, an English language Saudi daily newspaper, after the most recent verdict was issued, the judges in Medina issued a statement expressing that Sibat deserved to be executed for having continually practiced black magic on his show, adding that this sentence would deter others from practicing sorcery. Arab News reports that the case will now return to the appeals court in Mecca.

20 March 2010

Guests at the Penarik Inn here were flabbergasted by the actions of a group of men said to be from the state Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT) who conducted a raid yesterday morning.

Guests claimed they were rudely awakened at 2.25am by loud, incessant banging on their chalet doors…….

He said during the raid yesterday, a couple was taken away by the group and were only sent back at 6am after they proved that they were legally married.

"It was a harrowing experience for them. They checked out immediately and I don't know if they will ever stay at my chalet again."

ISLAM & CHRISTIANITY

NIGERIA

The central city of Jos is on high alert after Sunday's Nigeria violence in which a late-night attack by herdsmen killed up to 500 people from nearby farming villages. The attack has been seen as a reprisal for attacks in January, in which about 300 herdsmen were killed by youth from the farming community.

Jos is also right on the de facto fault line separating the Nigeria's mainly Muslim north from its mainly Christian south. The farming community in Jos are primarily Christians of the Berom ethnic group, while the herders are ethnic Fulanis who practice Islam.

CHRISTIANITY (Roman Catholic)

WORLWIDE

Example:

A report commissioned by the Church the following year said more than 4,000 US Roman Catholic priests had faced sexual abuse allegations in the last 50 years, in cases involving more than 10,000 children - mostly boys.

Religious hypocrites and ‘holier than thou' attitudes are combining with lack of education, and fear, through ignorance, of the various religious leaders.

Abuse of power and trust, the mixing of politics and religion are some of the root causes of such events as those illustrated above.

Freedom of religion should be upheld everywhere, it is after all a basic human right.

We all should have respect for all religions and their followers. At the same time should strongly condemn all types of shameful behaviour carried out in the name of religion.

Religious belief, or not believing in religion, being an atheist, an agnostic, a freethinker, or whatever a person believes in or does not believe in, is a personal and private matter.

NO RELIGION TOO!

IMAGINE IT IS EASY IF YOU TRY, NO HELL BELOW US, ABOVE US ONLY SKY.

IMAGING THERE’S NO COUNTRIES; IT ISN’T HARD TO DO, NOTHING TO KILL OR DIE FOR, AND NO RELIGION TOO.

HEAR-HEAR!!!!

The lyrics for John Lennon’s famous and truly thought provoking song are written below.

If we all lived like he envisaged in his song, the world could indeed be a better place for you & me.

Imagine there's no Heaven

It's easy if you try

No hell below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today

Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

When cannibals ate a missionary, did they get a taste of religion?

A QUESTION

Is Atheism a non-prophet organization?
