Death-by-Bus Continues in Malaysia!

Die like a frog (mati katak) in Malaysia, no one cares less

Some of the reasons are:-

  • No enforcement on roads & highways.
  • Corruption, Corruption, Corruption!
  • Lackadaisical authorities
  • Incompetence, stupidity
  • Cover-ups
  • Political influence and patronage
  • Poor road design and awful road-sign placement and multiple designs
  • Third world culture and mentality
  • Complaisance

Seven people, six of whom were teenagers, were killed and 39 others injured in a bus accident at Genting Sempah, outside of Kuala Lumpur.

The crash, happened at 7.50pm last night 29th October 2010), said Selangor traffic chief Supt Che Hussein Omar.

Seventeen were seriously injured while the remaining 22 suffered minor injuries,” he said. “Two people were thrown out from the bus.”

He added police were investigating the driver for reckless driving.

The co-driver said he was asleep when the crash happened.

“When I got up, the bus was rolling,” he added.

UPDATE

DRIVER HAD NO DRIVING LICENCE

BUS WAS IN POOR CONDITION (NOT ROADWORTHY??)

The driver who was driving the bus, that hit the roadside safety barrier and overturned several times at kilometre 38 of the Genting Sempah road on Friday, 29th October 2011, night, killing seven and injuring 39 others, did not have a driving licence.

In Baling, where the bus trip originated, families of the seven victims who were killed claimed that the bus was not the one promised by the bus company and said it was was not in good condition.

This is quite typical of the every day situation in today's Malaysia.

  • Corruption and bribery rule.
  • Money is seemingly king!
  • The dire consequences of actions are disregarded.
  • Safety is disregarded
  • Lives are regarded as cheap and are dispensable!

When well the people wake up and demand change?

May the seven innocent victims of this bus crash rest in peace.

And the extravagant pie-in-the-sky tourism minister wants to encourage tourists to hire self-drive cars!

How idiotic, even the locals get lost everyday!!!!!!

New Slogan for Ministry of Tourism:

Malaysia Truly a Great Place to Die in a Road Accident

Spend two weeks in Malaysia, hire a car.

You may either die, or perhaps you will spend your whole holiday trying to get out of Kuala Lumpur.................. enjoy going round in every decreasing circles, but be careful you may end up in your own anus!!!!

DANGER! PLEASE TAKE HEED - Do not Travel on Express Buses in Malaysia

Yet another express bus crash resulting in a massive death toll and scores of injuries.

When will the carnage on Malaysia's roads end?

So all you people out there, locals and tourists alike, please think very carefully before choosing to travel by express bus in Malaysia.

Remember in Malaysia:
  • Talking is cheap
  • Lives are regarded as cheap, &
  • Corruption is still alive and thriving, but it is certainly killing the country and the people!

Twelve people were killed on the spot and more than 45 others were injured in a crash involving two buses, a van and three cars at Kilometre 223 of the North-South Highway near the Simpang Ampat toll plaza on Sunday, 10th October 2010.
The express bus crashed through the guardrail and ploughed into the five other vehicles heading in the opposition direction.

Police said the tragedy, at 18:40, happened when a bus heading towards Kuala Lumpur 'went out of control' and flipped over to the southbound side of the highway.

How on earth does a bus, or any other vehicle, 'go out of control' what an idiotic thing to say!

The red bus seems to have been speeding, that is the norm in Malaysia, although all buses are restricted by law to a maximum speed on highways of 90 km/hour, they can be seen at any time of any day moving at well over the maximum speed allowed for any vehicle on a Malaysian highway, which is 110 km/hour!

The is virtually zero enforcement of most laws, even though Malaysia has so many enforcement agencies.

The police and the road transport department are supposed to take care of enforcement on the roads and highways, but they do not appear to do their work very well.

In this case the police were reported as saying, as quoted in a news report:

'There was no evidence so far that the express bus involved in the fatal crash in Simpang Ampat on Sunday was speeding.'

SAC Abdul Aziz said 'police were still unsure of the exact cause'.

Just wait, there will soon be another fatal crash involving an express bus, and more and more ad infinitum, unless something is done to end the carnage on Malaysia's roads. Don't hold your breath folks!!

Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) president SM Idris was reported as saying that the authorities should investigate claims by some passengers that the bus was being driven very fast.

He said talks on public road safety were meaningless until enforcement and important policies on road safety were implemented.

"What happened to speed limiting devices on express buses, the automated enforcement system (AES) and proper management of commercial vehicle drivers?" he asked.

CAP said the authorities should stop pandering to the demands of transport companies and focus instead on saving lives.

WELL SAID MR. S M IDRIS!

ONLY WHEN ENDEMIC BRIBERY & CORRUPTION IS ERADICATED, WILL ALL THINGS GET BETTER IN MALAYSIA.

Yet another Training Aircraft Crashes in Malaysia

The logo of the Kuala Lumpur Flying Academy (KLIFA)
can be seen on the remains of the tail fin of the crashed aircraft

KLIFA is touted as:-

It seems to have been yet another case of a crash caused engine failure.

  1. Will a thorough investigation be carried out?
  2. Will the outcome be made public?
  3. Will the investigation of all other crashes of training aircraft be made public?
Most likely the answer to the above three questions will be NO!
  1. Will the status quo remain?
  2. Will this type of tragic incident recur?
The answer to these two questions will, sadly, most likely be YES.

Accountability & transparency have, up to now, not been regarded by many as strong considerations in Malaysia.

Maintenance in Malaysia has always been very poor, to say the least!

The gist of what happened, is as follows:

The engine of a light aircraft (Liberty XL-2) had stalled in mid-air, which caused it to crashed at an oil palm estate near Kampung Sri Gunung Pulai leaving a teenage female trainee pilot dead and a flight examiner injured, according to various news reports.

Trainee pilot Dione Wong Yong Chin, 19, was killed on the spot in the crash at the Sri Pulai oil palm estate near Kulai, Johor, at about 09:20 on Tuesday 6th September 2010.
Kuala Lumpur International Flying Academy (Klifa) Sdn Bhd owns the ill-fated aircraft.

Flight examiner Captain Zaini Ramli, 38, of the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Malaysia, sustained severe injuries.

The aircraft had taken off from its 'base' at the Sultan Ismail International Airport in Senai, which lies about 5.4 nautical miles from the crash site, at about 09:00.

When contacted, Department of Civil Aviation Director General Azharuddin Abd Rahman who was contacted by the media, was reported as saying that the trainee pilot was sitting for her Private Pilot Licence (PPL) flying test and that Capt. Zaini was her flight examiner.

Sincere condolences to the family of the late Dione Wong Yong Chin, may she rest in peace.

Un-Islamic Football Jerseys

ENGLAND

KOSMO! a Malaysian tabloid rag popular amongst the Malay Language readers, which is well known for homing in on sensational news, recently carried a report about Muslims who wear football jerseys which display images of crosses, liquor brands and devils.

Johor Religious Council adviser Nooh Gadot reportedly said wearing such jerseys was forbidden in Islam.

“It is as if Muslims are worshipping and exalting the symbols of other religions. Islam does not compromise on this matter, regardless of whether it is worn for fun, fashion or sport,” he said.

Perak Mufti Harussani Zakaria was reported to have agreed with Nooh, saying, although Islam did not forbid its followers from participating in sports or dressing up, it has to be done within the boundaries of Islamic law.

Among the football teams whose crests carry images of the cross are England, Brazil, Portugal, Serbia, Barcelona and Norway, while Manchester United carries the “Red Devil” on its crest.

Malaysia seems to be becoming more like Iran with each passing week.

What next, goons going around spotting 'non-Islamic hair styles' and cutting the hair of transgressors?

BARCELONA

How utterly stupid and pathetic, have the religious authorities nothing better to do than concentrate on such trivia?

How about them getting stuck into reducing the high incidences of rape, incest, drug addition, anti-social behaviour, abandoning of new-born babies etc., all of which are, as is common knowledge and which has been extensively reported in Malaysian news media, more common amongst the Malays, who are Muslims, than among others in Malaysia?

Utterly Pathetic Stupidity!

Has Religion Made Useful Contributions to Civilization?

By Bertrand Russell

My own view on religion is that of Lucretius. I regard it as a disease born of fear and as a source of untold misery to the human race. I cannot, however, deny that it has made some contributions to civilization. It helped in early days to fix the calendar, and it caused Egyptian priests to chronicle eclipses with such care that in time they became able to predict them. These two services I am prepared to acknowledge, but I do not know of any others.

AIR ACCIDENT [Diamond DA40 TDI] IN MALAYSIA -HOW CAN A FLYING SCHOOL [HM Aerospace] INVESTIGATE THE DITCHING (CRASH LANDING INTO THE SEA) ON THEIR OWN

The ditched Diamond DA40 TDI in the sea off Langkawi Island

Assuming that the BERNAMA news report (see below) - or click HERE- is correct:

Surely the aircraft should be impounded by, and this air accident investigation should be carried out independently by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Malaysia.

They are the regulatory body for civil aviation in Malaysia, are they not?

In order to ensure accountability and transparency, all air (and for that matter any accidents on land, sea or air) accident investigation reports should be made public.

This looks like being yet another cover-up and /or a full whitewash!

By DCA Malaysia

Shame on you DCA Malaysia.

NEWS FROM THE NATIONAL NEWS AGENCY, MALAYSIA (BERNAMA)

“LANGKAWI, March 16 (Bernama) -- Flying school HM Aerospace has set up a committee to probe the emergency landing by its Diamond (DA40) light aircraft in the sea near the Pasir Hitam police officers mess in Ayer Hangat on Monday.

Its principal, Brig-Gen (R) Datuk Ranjit Singh Gill, said today the committee would prepare a report for submission to the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and HM Aerospace.

The probe would be an internal affair and need not be made public, he told Bernama.

In the 9.30am incident, the aircraft landed about 100m from the beach and the pilot and a trainee were brought to safety by fishermen who were in the vicinity.

Meanwhile, the aircraft was taken to the flying school in Padang Matsirat yesterday for further investigation.

Die Like a Frog in Shameless Malaysia

VALUELESS LIVES 'MATI KATAK' IN MALAYSIA

POLICE INDIFFERENCE & IGNORANCE

In Malaysia life seems to be so cheap, and should anyone be unfortunate enough to die in road accident, better not expect any support from the authorities, especially the police.

As happened in Johor Bahru North, the police will be more likely to blame the motorist rather that the local authority or the Public Works Department who have not maintained the road.

See this news report:

'A 36-year-old hairdresser was killed when she fell off a motorcycle which hit a pothole'

from The Star by clicking HERE

'The pot hole was LESS THAN A FOOT (30 cm) DEEP said the OCPD'

Extract from the news report:

"Johor Baru (North) deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Akhir Ishak said Lee died of head injuries and police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.

He said Lee’s helmet could have become loose and fallen off when she hit the ground.

He added that the pothole was less than a foot deep."

Other shameful events have occurred in the past few days, is Malaysia cursed?

Perhaps it is cursed, but the lazy, unproductive, non-enforcing, lackadaisical and complaisant public servants are more probably the root cause of many of Malaysia's problems.

The Remodelled Gong Badak Stadium

DUMB PRIDE IN A SHODDY STADIUM

The pride of the state of Terengganu, the RM300million Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu became a heap of twisted metal when its roof collapsed yesterday, only one year after it was opened.

PREPOSTEROUSLY PIOUS RUDE PRUDES

Selangor Religious Department (JAIS) workers raided an actors fiancée's apartment in Petaling Jaya, reported Harian Metro, according to The Star, click HERE

The unnamed actor, in his twenties, who acts in a mystic and horror TV series, managed to climb to the next balcony on the fifth floor at 3am recently.

The five JAIS goons raided the apartment after receiving complaints from busy-body neighbours (peeping-toms or spies) that the actor and his fiancée would meet up frequently at her home.

Serious crime is rampant in Malaysia and so much time effort is wasted on stupid and pathetic raids like this which invade the privacy of individuals.

The targets should be the rapists, wife beaters, paedophiles and child abusers.

Perhaps JAIS actually stands for Jealous Antediluvian Insomniac Shameful?

QANTAS B747-400 Incident-Was the Malaysian Lackadaisical Maintenance Culture A Factor?

QANTAS B747-400 "Spirit of Australia

I certainly hope it was not, but have a gut-feeling it may have been!

If it was there must be a full inquiry and all those involved must be severely dealt with.

Sydney-based tabloid The Daily Telegraph quoted an anonymous senior QANTAS pilot as a saying that the yesterday’s (25th July 2008) QANTAS Flight QF 30 Boeing 747-400 incident could have been due to the company’s outsourcing of maintenance to Malaysia.

The pilot said that there had been a lot of talk among pilots about the poor checks on aircraft being performed overseas.

“Qantas outsourcing maintenance to Malaysia is certainly worrying a lot of us pilots. There has been aircraft coming back with dodgy staples to secure wiring,” said the quoted QANTAS pilot.

POSCO eyes Sarawak, watch out for air and water pollution, destruction of the natural environment and loss of flora and fauna

Will this be yet another nail in Sarawak's coffin?

Some are undoubtedly going to get even richer if this plan by Pohang Iron and Steel Company, of South Korean is allowed to proceed will-nilly.

See this recent news report taken from the international marine publication ‘Fairplay’.

"Now POSCO eyes Sarawak

THE WORLD’S third-largest steel producer, POSCO of South Korea, is keenly eyeing the vast economic potential of the eastern Malaysian state of Sarawak, now that the company’s Vietnam plans have come to grief.

South Korea’s ambassador to Malaysia Yang Bong Ryull told the Bernama News Agency:

“POSCO is showing big interest in Sarawak.” Yang was briefing reporters after attending a briefing by senior Sarawak Energy officials in Kuching.

Vietnam government-owned shipbuilder Vinashin recently decided to withdraw from a deal with POSCO for a $3.5Bn integrated steel mill plant.

But POSCO has reportedly submitted a feasibility study to build a different steel plant in central Vietnam. Korean sources close to POSCO said that it awaits Vietnamese government approval for a plant with first-phase production of 1.8M tonnes of steel a year."

THE CARNAGE ON MALAYSIA’S HIGHWAYS CONTINUES UNABATED

It was reported today, Sunday 17 Feb. 2008, that a toddler, aged five months, and his grandmother were killed when the car they were travelling in was involved in a four-car pile-up at km 276, that is north of Seremban, on the North-South Highway in the southbound lane, late on Friday night. (15th February 2008).

M. Sanjev Raj was in the arms of her grandmother M. Mariayee, 49, who was in the passenger seat of the Toyota Vios when the accident occurred at about 11.30pm.

They were believed to have been seriously injured after hitting the dashboard. Mariayee was then flung out of the car while Sanjev fell to the floor in front of the seat. They both died on the way to hospital.

It is understood that the Toyota Vios was hit from behind by a Toyota Camry and in turn rammed into the Honda CRV in front, which then hit a Proton Waja, the Vios then spun and the Camry burst into flames.

The toddler's parents, C. Maniraj, 35, and I. Radha, 30, escaped unhurt.

State traffic police chief ASP Abdul Halil Hamzah had stated that the driver and passenger of the Totota Camry had been admitted to a private hospital at Seremban with minor injuries.

I know that the ambulances and other emergency vehicles on the way to this accident were impeded by other vehicles which were using the emergency lane and thus were blocking it, and were preventing emergency vehicles reaching the scene of the accident quickly.

The ignorant, inconsiderate, selfish drivers of these vehicles may well bear a great measure of responsibility for the deaths of a grandmother and her five month old grandchild.
I wonder if anyone will be charged with any offences connected with this blockage of the emergency lane, most likely they will not be!

They certainly should be charged (how about involuntary manslaughter? (criminally negligent homicide), prosecuted and if found guilty, should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Where is the enforcement? If the police patrolled the roads and highways effectively ensuring that drivers drove with due care and attention, didn't over speed and race, were not reckless, didn't talk on hand held mobile phones, wore seatbelts, fitted baby seats, and so on, then the carnage on Malaysia's roads and highways would be reduced and be, in due time assigned to history.

How many more lives have to be sacrificed before something effective will be done, just talking about road safety is pointless, so are periodic half hearted campaigns centred on holidays.

Will there be no end to the carnage on the roads and highways of Malaysia?

Based on the past experience, nothing will change, express buses will still speed at over 110 km/hr with impunity, when their speed limit is a maximum of 90 km/hr as will heavy goods vehicles, private cars and motor cycles, and numerous other offences will be commonplace, what a shame!

ROAD SAFETY IS EVERY ONES RESPONSIBILITY, ISN'T IT?

Gezondheid!
