Rosmah? Rosmah who?

UMNO delegates have clearly showed that they want change and they want leaders who can speak and listen to the aspirations of the people, according to Rosmah.

Evidently Rosmah, has been attending the UMNO assembly from day one and will stay to the end, said she was not only here to lend moral support but also to listen to grievances from the delegates.

It was reported she said, “If I were not here, I would be at home to sort of (sic) my house first before coming to listen to the speakers."

The irrelevant and biased views of Rosmah should not be featured in an article by a nation newspaper, dedicated to the UMNO assembly should they? She is just there as a visitor is she not?

As far as I am aware it never saw the light of day in any Malaysian newspaper, I wonder why?

Was it the perhaps the text or the photograph which was unacceptable.

Raja Petra charged over sworn statement, no plea recorded, released on RM 2,000 bail

On Thursday, 17^th July 2008 Raja Petra Kamarudin, a well-known blogger, was arrested and charged with criminal defamation for alleging in a sworn statement that DPM’s Najib's wife, Rosmah Mansor, and others were involved in the 2006 murder and blowing up of 28 year old Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu, a freelance translator.

Raja Petra refused to enter a plea; he was released on bail which was set at RM 2,000.

A separate sworn statement by a private investigator, which he later retracted, also linked Najib to the woman. Both Najib, Rosmah and others have all denied any involvement in Altantuya Shaariibuu's killing.

MALAYSIA'S "First Lady-in-waiting" Rosmah Mansor has become a lightning rod for criticism of late.

Pointing to her overseas trips, the opposition alleged that the 57-year-old wife of Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak had gone on luxury shopping sprees and shipped her purchases back home at the expense of the Malaysian embassy in London and national carrier Malaysian Airlines.

While Mr Najib has stood up for his wife and dismissed the allegations that she had received special treatment from Malaysian embassies abroad, the negative perception of Ms Rosmah has stuck in the public mind.

Mr Najib had to come to her defence again on Wednesday, this time over her alleged involvement in the 2006 murder of Ms Altantuya Shaariibuu, a 28-year-old Mongolian woman whose body was later blown up with explosives.

Mr Raja Petra Kamarudin, the editor of online news portal Malaysia Today, filed a statutory declaration last week at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, alleging that Ms Rosmah was one of the three individuals at the murder scene.

This was after he was charged last month with sedition for implying that Mr Najib was involved in the murder. Ms Rosmah gave her statement to the police on Monday, the details of which have not been made public.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had repeatedly rejected charges that Mr Najib and his wife were involved in Ms Altantuya's murder. Political analysts noted that as long as there are doubts over their involvement, Mr Abdullah's choice of successor is seen as potentially disastrous.

Political analyst Khoo Kay Peng said Mr Najib's succession — the timeframe of which has not been made official — would not be able to reverse the decline of the United Malays National Organisation (Umno) if he is plagued with Mr Raja Petra's new allegation against his wife.

"Mr Najib's credibility is already fragile among common folk, especially in his own Malay community. He needs to justify his innocence if he wants to provide a strong leadership to Umno," he said.

Kuala Lumpur resident A L Tan said Malaysians liked to compare Ms Rosmah to Ms Jeanne Abdullah, the wife of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, the wife of former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohammad.

"They say Ms Rosmah is not as humble as the present First Lady and the former ones," she said.

Ms Agnes Teh, a resident of Penang, said: "Ms Rosmah is seen as ambitious and arrogant, so some people fear that she could be a tough 'First Lady' who will be able to influence decisions."

But she added: "We shouldn't judge her while claims of her involvement in the murder are being investigated".

Ms Rosmah, the current chancellor of the Industrial University of Selangor, returned to Malaysia in 1983 after finishing her postgraduate studies, she worked as a business development manager for five years before deciding in 1997 to devote more time to her husband.

She is the second wife of Mr Najib, who divorced his first wife of 11 years, Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar, with whom he has three children, in 1987. The Umno deputy president then wed Ms Rosmah, with whom he has five children.

On whether Mr Najib, 54, will make a better Prime Minister than Mr Abdullah, political analyst Yang Razali Kassim of the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University, told Today: "That's what many people expect, though it remains to be seen. To begin with, he has a pedigree, being the son of Malaysia's popular second Prime Minister Abdul Razak."

But Mr Najib, who is also a nephew of Malaysia's third Prime Minister Hussein Onn, has found it hard to steer clear of controversy.

“KUALA LUMPUR - MALAYSIAN Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Tuesday denied that his deputy Najib Razak and the man's wife were involved in the 2006 murder of a Mongolian model.

A prominent Malaysian blogger has linked the couple to the case.

Mr Abdullah said that action would be taken against the blogger who made the allegations against Mr Najib and his wife Ms Rosmah Mansor, and who has already been charged with sedition over the issue.

'I don't believe that Najib and Rosmah are involved,' the premier told reporters.

He described blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin's actions as 'unacceptable'.

'The Attorney General has told me that an investigation will be carried out and action will be taken against him,' Mr Abdullah said.

Political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, a close associate of Mr Najib, is currently on trial for abetting the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Two police officers from the Special Action Force (UTK), whose duties included guarding Mr Abdullah and Mr Najib, were also charged with the killing.

Raja Petra, founder and editor of the popular Malaysia Today site, last week lodged a signed declaration in court linking Ms Rosmah to the case.

He has already been charged with sedition over an earlier article he wrote on his website, linking both Mr Najib and Ms Rosmah to the murder. If convicted, he faces three years in jail.

Mr Najib, who is heir apparent to Mr Abdullah, has repeatedly denied any involvement in the death of the 28-year-old Mongolian woman, whose body was blown up with explosives.

Mr Abdullah dismissed Raja Petra's allegations that the premier had seen a military intelligence report on the murder that backed the allegations.

'No, I can't remember receiving anything. He can say anything but I have not seen it,' Mr Abdullah said.

Mr Najib again rejected links to the case in May, telling parliament that they were 'lies aimed at tarnishing my name'.

'As a responsible citizen, I will say again that I have never known or even met this woman before. I pray that the court will continue to seek justice and uphold the law without any interference,' he said at the time. – AFP”

Well folks, what do you make of that?

Abdullah seems to know a lot about it and furthermore appears to be pre-judging RPK.

One could even infer that his is acting as the de facto AG, investigator, prosecutor and judge!

Abdullah has taken a strong stand on the matters contained in RPK’s SD, but will there be a full and impartial investigation, and will the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth ever see the light of day?

In the interest of justice, integrity and transparency it is hoped it will.

Too much has, and is still being swept under the carpet in Malaysia.

Explosive News in a SD by RKP

Malaysiakini (HERE) reported on 20^th June 2008 regarding a Statutory Declaration (SD) which was made by Malaysian blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, (HERE) who has declared, via this SD signed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Wednesday that Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak's wife Rosmah, (see the photograph of her above looking through rose coloured glasses), was allegedly at the scene of the crime, together with two other individuals, when a young Mongolian lady by the name of Altantuya Shaariibuu was blown up with C4 plastic explosives on the night of 19 / 20th October 2006.

There are numerous blog posts regarding this explosive SD, but so far nothing at all in the Malaysian main stream media, which is quite normal, as they have apparently been once again gagged ('imposing self censorship') by the government!
