Yet another express bus crash resulting in a massive death toll and scores of injuries.
When will the carnage on Malaysia's roads end?
So all you people out there, locals and tourists alike, please think very carefully before choosing to travel by express bus in Malaysia.
Remember in Malaysia:
Talking is cheap
Lives are regarded as cheap, &
Corruption is still alive and thriving, but it is certainly killing the country and the people!
Twelve people were killed on the spot and more than 45 others were injured in a crash involving two buses, a van and three cars at Kilometre 223 of the North-South Highway near the Simpang Ampat toll plaza on Sunday, 10th October 2010. The express bus crashed through the guardrail and ploughed into the five other vehicles heading in the opposition direction.
Police said the tragedy, at 18:40, happened when a bus heading towards Kuala Lumpur 'went out of control' and flipped over to the southbound side of the highway.
How on earth does a bus, or any other vehicle, 'go out of control' what an idiotic thing to say!
The red bus seems to have been speeding, that is the norm in Malaysia, although all buses are restricted by law to a maximum speed on highways of 90 km/hour, they can be seen at any time of any day moving at well over the maximum speed allowed for any vehicle on a Malaysian highway, which is 110 km/hour!
The is virtually zero enforcement of most laws, even though Malaysia has so many enforcement agencies.
The police and the road transport department are supposed to take care of enforcement on the roads and highways, but they do not appear to do their work very well.
In this case the police were reported as saying, as quoted in a news report:
'There was no evidence so far that the express bus involved in the fatal crash in Simpang Ampat on Sunday was speeding.'
SAC Abdul Aziz said 'police were still unsure of the exact cause'.
Just wait, there will soon be another fatal crash involving an express bus, and more and more ad infinitum, unless something is done to end the carnage on Malaysia's roads. Don't hold your breath folks!!
Consumers Association of Penang (CAP) president SM Idris was reported as saying that the authorities should investigate claims by some passengers that the bus was being driven very fast.
He said talks on public road safety were meaningless until enforcement and important policies on road safety were implemented.
"What happened to speed limiting devices on express buses, the automated enforcement system (AES) and proper management of commercial vehicle drivers?" he asked.
CAP said the authorities should stop pandering to the demands of transport companies and focus instead on saving lives.
WELL SAID MR. S M IDRIS!
ONLY WHEN ENDEMIC BRIBERY & CORRUPTION IS ERADICATED, WILL ALL THINGS GET BETTER IN MALAYSIA.

This is yet another nail in the coffin of freedom of speech and freedom of expression.
Even the freedom of thought is not encouraged in Malaysia!
What type of democratic system does Malaysia have?
It seems to more like a system stinking of dictatorial edicts, nepotism, feudalism, racism, which is run by pathetic, pigheaded, pompous, pie-in-the-sky politicians, who are a plague on Malaysia.
What is needed is more power to the people and free speech, freedom of expression, a free press and a truly democratic, open, unbiased and transparent system of governance.
These simple questions, and many more, need to be properly answered:
Why is Malaysia way far behind Singapore in every respect?
Where has all Malaysia's wealth gone to in the past half century?
Why is there still institutionalised racism in Malaysia?
Why do race and religion based political parties still thrive?
Why is religion so entwined with politics?
Why has corruption, from top to bottom, not been eradicated?

Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III born February 8, 1960) also known as Noynoy Aquino or PNoy, is the fifteenth and the current President of the Philippines.
President Benigno Aquino's stand regarding contraception, as reported by AFP today, 27th September 2010, deserves accolades for his stand against the RC Church in the Philippines.
Please read the news item below.
Unwanted pregnancies should always be prevented
The Roman Catholic Church needs to get real, the priorities need to be adjusted.
In most, if not all ,developing countries with a large RC population, the vast majority of people are very poor, the Philippines is a prime example.
One of the reasons for this poverty is the very large number of children born tnto poor families who are denied access to free family planing education and contraception.
In my humble opinion the governments and the people of all nations should stand up against all archaic, oppressive, demeaning and illogical religious teachings which are detrimental to their prosperity, welfare, good health and well-being.
The Roman Catholic is filthy rich whilst their followers are generally as poor as church mice, how shameful this is!
Especially in poor countries with a high birth rate, more instruction, material and moral encouragement and free, or very cheap, and easily accessible contraception methods are absolutely vital.
"MANILA - THE Philippine government will provide contraceptives to poor couples who request it despite strong opposition from the dominant Roman Catholic church, President Benigno Aquino said on Monday.
Speaking in a satellite television interview from the United States where he is on a seven-day visit, Mr Aquino stressed that the number of children a couple had was a matter of personal choice.
'The government is obligated to inform everybody of their responsibilities and their choices. At the end of the day, government might provide assistance to those who are without means if they want to employ a particular method,' he said.
'I believe the couple will be in the best position to determine what is best for the family, how to space (the births), what methods they can rely on and so forth,' said Mr Aquino at a 'town hall' style meeting with expatriate Filipinos.
'They face the responsibility for the children that they bring in and government is willing to assist them.' Mr Aquino, a 50-year-old bachelor and a practising Catholic, was responding to questions about how he planned to curb population growth in the face of opposition from the church.
The church wields considerable influence in the Philippines, where more than 80 per cent of the population are Catholics, and has used its clout in the past to attack officials who champion artificial methods of birth control." -- AFP

Zunar holding his book of cartoons, he was reported as saying that police seized 70 copies of his latest book, called 'Cartoon-O-Phobia', at his home and are holding him ahead of its scheduled launch on Friday evening.
"The raid at his office and his arrest only go to prove that the authorities are cartoon-phobic,' said Steven Gan, chief editor of online news portal Malaysiakini, the publisher of 'Cartoon-O-Phobia' and some of Mr Zunar's earlier books.
'This is an attack on freedom of expression, it again shows that the authorities have no sense of humour.' Mr Gan said the 80-page book had a caricature of Prime Minister Najib Razak's wife on the front cover and contained cartoons that touched on numerous controversial issues." -- AFP

Thoughts in the Silent Night LiBai
The moonlight is shinning through the window, And it makes me wonder if it is the frost on the ground, Looking up to see the moon ..... Looking down I miss so much about my home town.
Wishing everyone a joyous and harmonious mid-Autumn Moon Festival
May the family spirit of brotherhood and friendship, fostered by colourful lanterns and delicious moon cakes; bring peace, happiness, harmony and fellowship to all people everywhere.
The joyful Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, which is the third and last festival for the living, is celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth moon, that is around the time of the autumnal equinox. It is also regarded as the 'Harvest Festival'.
Many folks refer to it simply as the "Fifteenth of the Eighth Moon". The festival day always occurs sometime between the second week of September and the second week of October of the western Gregorian calender.
This year, 2010, the Mid-Autumn festival falls on 22nd September.
Moon cakes, measuring about three inches in diameter and one and a half inches in height are a little like fruitcakes in taste and consistency, but with their brown crust they resemble meat pies.
These cakes were traditionally made with melon seeds, lotus seeds, almonds, minced meats, bean paste, orange peels and lard.
One or more golden yolk from a salted duck egg is often placed at the centre of each cake, and the golden brown crust is decorated with symbols of the festival.
The Shanghai moon cake, however is a different shape, it is almost spherical and a paler colour.
Traditionally, thirteen moon cakes are piled in a pyramid to symbolize the thirteen moons of a "complete year," that is, twelve moons plus one intercalary (additional, or interpolated) moon, which is added to balance the lunar and solar years.
Clouds gather in the sky, The moon sings a song of the Motherland. We bring a word of greeting— How Have You Been? Hoping you understand the Truth, Wishing you good health!
Lee Kuan Yew – "Malaysia could have enjoyed Singapore’s multi-racial system if not for the break up"
by Zaleh =Published on 14-09-2010 11:38 AM=
"Lee Kuan Yew, the founding father of Singapore commented on the racial relations of Malaysia saying that if Singapore and Malaysia did not part ways back in 1965, the latter would have enjoyed the type of nationalism and multi-racism culture that are practised by Singapore. He was speaking at an interview with the New York Times recently where he mentioned that it was being ‘turfed out’ of Malaysia which formed the first regret of his career that spans many decades.”-------------------------------------------& etc.
Read the contents of the interview with the New York Times by clicking HERE
Lee Kuan Yew is reported to have said:
QUOTE “Malaysia took the different line; Malaysians saw it as a Malay country, all others are lodgers, ‘orang tumpangan’, and they the Bumiputeras, sons of the soil, run the show. So the Sultans, the Chief Justice and judges, generals, police commissioner, the whole hierarchy is Malay,” UNQUOTE
Wishing everyone Selamat Hari Raya, Labaran Greetings, Eid ul fitr, Eid Mubarak greetings to one all.
According to the astronomical calender, the New Moon date is today, 8th September 2010, therefore the Eid (Hari Raya) should fall tomorrow 9th September 2010.
Not to forget that Rosh Hashanah ( ראש השנה ), literally "head of the year", the Jewish New Year, also falls on 9th September 2010.
Happy Holidays to one & all!

The logo of the Kuala Lumpur Flying Academy (KLIFA)
can be seen on the remains of the tail fin of the crashed aircraft
KLIFA is touted as:-
It seems to have been yet another case of a crash caused engine failure.
Will a thorough investigation be carried out?
Will the outcome be made public?
Will the investigation of all other crashes of training aircraft be made public?
Most likely the answer to the above three questions will be NO!
Will the status quo remain?
Will this type of tragic incident recur?
The answer to these two questions will, sadly, most likely be YES.
Accountability & transparency have, up to now, not been regarded by many as strong considerations in Malaysia.
Maintenance in Malaysia has always been very poor, to say the least! The gist of what happened, is as follows:
The engine of a light aircraft (Liberty XL-2) had stalled in mid-air, which caused it to crashed at an oil palm estate near Kampung Sri Gunung Pulai leaving a teenage female trainee pilot dead and a flight examiner injured, according to various news reports.
Trainee pilot Dione Wong Yong Chin, 19, was killed on the spot in the crash at the Sri Pulai oil palm estate near Kulai, Johor, at about 09:20 on Tuesday 6th September 2010.
Kuala Lumpur International Flying Academy (Klifa) Sdn Bhd owns the ill-fated aircraft.
Flight examiner Captain Zaini Ramli, 38, of the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Malaysia, sustained severe injuries.
The aircraft had taken off from its 'base' at the Sultan Ismail International Airport in Senai, which lies about 5.4 nautical miles from the crash site, at about 09:00.
When contacted, Department of Civil Aviation Director General Azharuddin Abd Rahman who was contacted by the media, was reported as saying that the trainee pilot was sitting for her Private Pilot Licence (PPL) flying test and that Capt. Zaini was her flight examiner.
Sincere condolences to the family of the late Dione Wong Yong Chin, may she rest in peace.
