PROTES began as planned at 10:00.
There is a carnival atmosphere at the Kelana Jaya stadium this morning (Sunday 6th July 2008) where the all day anti-fuel price rise rally ‘PROTES’ is taking pace.
The day will be filled with various activities and speeches.
The Malaysian public attending, are upholding their rights to peaceful assembly, and are deifying intimidating road blocks, veiled threats and stern warnings from the police.

There is still a heavy police presence, including at the LRT Stations, around Petaling Jaya and
Some road blocks are still reported to be in place too.

The NST now at last reports about the rally, and says 10,000 people are attending, so based on previous underestimated by the msm, the true number may be higher.

Thousands of protesters, led by several NGOs and Pakatan Rakyat leaders, have thronged the Kelana Jaya stadium here to protest against the fuel hike.
Many of them were wearing red shirts, emblazoned with the word "protest" to voice their dissent.”
At 15:00 the crowd is estimated by the Star, at 15,000 to 20,000 and increasing
NOTE: The Kelana Jaya stadium has a seating capacity of 50,000, reports in the early afternoon, say it was at least half full at noon.

Tens of thousands of Malaysians strongly disagree with his/her comments.
Wealth, greed, usury and self enrichment, and abuse of power by the federal government are some of the reasons this rally has been organised.
If Malaysians were lazy, as 'anon HK' infers, then they would not bother to attend!
