Anwar Ibrahim, (click on image at the left for a larger view) was once destined to become Malaysia's leader but he chose to stand by his principles; consequently he was the victim of trumped up charges, found guilty and sentenced, then jailed, beaten, humiliated, and tortured for six long years. To rub salt into the already gaping wound, Anwar was barred from taking part in politics for a period of time after he was released.
Today marks the beginning of the end of that period, at midnight tonight he is finally free to pursue his ambition, he can at long last regain his rightful place vis-à-vis his country's future.
His political foes, his persecutors and former jailers are now running around like blue-arsed flies around a headless chicken [UMNO] blaming each other, or anyone else but themselves, for the dismal failure of BN / UMNO to maintain their political iron fist, (a dictatorial 2/3 parliamentary majority) in the recent general elections.
Like rats leaving a sinking ship, some may just opt for the inevitable, like jumping overboard, others are behaving like circling vultures awaiting the carrion which will be left behind by the deserters!
The self destruct mechanism is already working, the death of UMNO 'by a thousand cuts', seems all but inevitable.
