Malayisan Express bus overturns on N-S highway, 1 killed, 31 injured

VISIT MALAYSIA DIE LIKE A FROG!

Yet another horrific crash of a Malaysian express bus on a highway.
One person, a young soldier, was killed and 31 other people were injured, 15 of them seriously, when an express bus travelling north towards Kuala Lumpur overturned at Kilometre 265.1 of the North-South highwayway just a few kilometres north of the Seremban toll plaza early in the morning of 8th April 2008.

The dead soldier has been identified as 23-year-old bus passenger, Mohd Arshad Razali, who died on the spot in the 03:45 horrific accident, Negeri Sembilan Traffic Police chief ASP Halil Hamzah reportdly had said.

The identities of the other 31 passengers, two of whom are Indonesian nationals and two Singaporeans, had yet to be ascertained, he said, adding that the injured people, including bus driver Mohd Shahrani Mohamad, 23, had been taken to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the young inexperienced bus driver, from Simpang Renggam, Johor, had joined the bus company, which had a Taiping address, only three months ago.

It was reported that the bus had been issued with 52 police summonses between 2004 and February 2008, mostly for speeding offences.

Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue assistant director of operations, Supt Khairul Azuwan Ibrahim said 18 fire and rescue personnel went to the scene of the incident, soon after the accident was reported, to help the victims.

The rescue team found the driver and four passengers trapped in the bus and managed to free them, he said.

The other passengers either had already got out of the bus on their own or were helped out by passers-by, he added.

What are the Traffic Police, the Road Transport Department, the Highway Authority and other authorities doing to get to the bottom of the carnage on Malaysia's road and highways?

Well based on the accident rate, and my own observations, the answer is "SWEET F A"

The roads and highways are a free for all race track, speed limits are totally ignored, police summonses are ridiculed as they are easy to evade, the highways are poorly maintained and badly signposted, road works are badly demarcated, haphazard and substandard, in short nobody cares about anything.

The tourist slogan for Malaysia should be:-

Visit Malaysia, spill your blood on our roads, Malaysia Truly Accident Prone.

DRIVE SAFELY, DO NOT SPEED, DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE, BE A CONSIDERATE DRIVER, ARRIVE ALIVE.

DEAD IS BAD, IT IS FOR GOOD

Commodum ex iniuria sua nemo habere debet

- No person ought to have advantage from his own wrong
