HORRIFIC CRASH ON GENTING HIGHLANDS ROAD

Selective reporting or just censorship?

The Malaysian national news agency (BERNAMA) and the main stream, politically controlled, media are not reporting this horrendous crash, but read about it in the Straits Times, by clicking HERE

Extract:

"A leisurely drive down the winding roads of Genting Highlands turned into a horrific nightmare for nine Singaporeans trapped in a minivan with no brakes.

Despite the handbrake being fully engaged, the rental van hurtled down the road, gaining speed all the time. It side-swiped several vehicles along the way and nearly careened off the road before finally crashing into a road divider.

The driver and four passengers were injured, two of them seriously. Still in a critical condition in a Kuala Lumpur hospital is a two-year-old girl who suffered internal injuries and had to have part of her intestines removed."

There are many factors which may have cause the break failure, poor driving skill, untrained driver, badly maintained vehicle, periodic inspection not carried out correctly, but to sum it up in a few words, it was probably the result of bribery and corruption!

Generally the media in Malaysia only reports the 'feel-good-factor' (FGF), and negative news is often not reported.

FGF like this:

"The number of tourists visiting Malaysia last month increased by 3.9% compared to the same period last year."

Malaysia: Cultured, Genteel, Enlightened, Progressive, Tolerant, my arse!

According to reports in the Malaysian, government owned Main Stream Media (MSM) the police have implemented most of the 125 recommendations contained in the 2005 report by the Royal Commission to Enhance the Operation and Management of the Royal Malaysian Police.

DIGP Ismail Omar steps have been taken to forge closer ties with the public through community policing and frequent meetings with residents.

"Both the state and district police chiefs have held regular meetings with residents' associations to hear their grouses and the problems they face," he reportedly said yesterday.

"These are part of measures to rebuild the public's confidence in the police force, besides encouraging them to cooperate with us and provide vital tip-offs."

What a laugh, anyway, believe it or not, be that as it may!

The MSM didn't report this:- (update: see below)

The police last night cordoned off a opposition political party's [DAP] fund-raising dinner held for some 3,000 people in Klang and confiscated the public address system, however later they allowed the dinner to continue at 8.15pm

Police with M16s were guarding area, Lim Kit Siang likened it to a war zone

There were 900 cops wasting their time there according to the belated report in the Star, see below.

Do the police have nothing better to do? Malaysia is very far from being crime free!!

In addition yet another recent case of apparent police brutality does not seem to have been reported in the Malaysia MSM, apart from a report HERE, either.

The police in Malaysia seem to have yet again behaved like gangsters and thugs, see video below, when a 20 year old student was allegedly beaten black and blue by the cops whist handcuffed in a police station.

Little did 20-year-old college student Koh Chon Weng suspect that a night out at a club with friends would pave the way for a horrendous experience which he will never ever be able to forget.

Koh Chon Weng, still bore the scars of his ordeal when interviewed on video, he claimed that he was arrested and beaten up by policemen for no apparent reason.

"I was handcuffed, punched and kicked for several minutes. And when I spat the blood which oozed out from my mouth on the floor, I was beaten again for this," recalled the soft-spoken accounting student during a press conference at the DAP office in Petaling Jaya.

Banned T Shirts

Meanwhile, dangerous T Shirts have been confiscated by the police in Malaysia.

The Ministry of Home Affairs apparently deemed the images [see below] to be obscene, subversive and likely to glorify communism.

You judge for yourself,

I think the slogans on the T shirts are quite amusing, and generally harmless.

I see this T shirt, which is quite appropriate in this context,

is not included in the banned T shirt list.

A so called 'Sex Orgy' on Malaysian Island in May 2009

Pride & Prejudice, Prude & Prudery, Dumb & Dumber in 21st Century Malaysia.

If drugs were used then that is really very bad, as far a having sexual intercourse and consuming alcohol surely these things are not unlawful as such, even in Malaysia,............... or are they?

Of course sexual intercourse should be in private between consenting adults and the drinking of alcohol, and even many other seemingly normal activities in most parts of the world, are in Malaysia, outlawed to Muslims, and even to others.

But why all the drama about a beach part which has been labelled a “Sex Orgy”.

On what grounds were alcoholic drinks confiscated, are the local council enforcement officers endowed with the power to do this?

Once again this is the type of off-the-cuff over-zealous action which time and again makes Malaysia a laughing stock, and which will further damage the reputation and credibilty of Malaysia.

To me Malaysia appears to becoming rather Xenophobic in recent years, and that is yet another retrograde step into the darkness.

Read the news in the media HERE

Meanwhile there have been some recent cases, highlighted in the electronic media, regarding local boat boys, drugging and then sexually molesting and raping both local and foreign female visitors visiting the beautiful islands off the east coast of peninsular Malaysia for snorkelling.

It is therefore surprising that there have been no dramatic media reports about the authorities investigating and, if there are indeed such crimes being committed, apprehending, trying and punishing the offenders!

Double standards perhaps?

Rosmah? Rosmah who?

UMNO delegates have clearly showed that they want change and they want leaders who can speak and listen to the aspirations of the people, according to Rosmah.

Evidently Rosmah, has been attending the UMNO assembly from day one and will stay to the end, said she was not only here to lend moral support but also to listen to grievances from the delegates.

It was reported she said, “If I were not here, I would be at home to sort of (sic) my house first before coming to listen to the speakers."

The irrelevant and biased views of Rosmah should not be featured in an article by a nation newspaper, dedicated to the UMNO assembly should they? She is just there as a visitor is she not?

WHO IS LYING, WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH?

Is it this dubious character, who is giving us all the finger?

or

the newspaper reporters?

I trust the word of the news reporters, far more than Ahmad Ismail's.

Now it is reported that Ahmad Ismail will take legal action against Sin Chew Daily for publishing a story that portrayed him as a racist.

"The publication has put me in a bad light and I will not tolerate it. To clear my name, I will initiate legal proceedings against Sin Chew Daily."

SANFU, in Malaysia the whistle-blowers, the messenger, and the truthful are usually punished.

The corrupt, the liars, the cheaters, the swindlers, and all types of assorted crooks, usually escape scot-free!!

Please, all reporters, report the truth without fear of favour.
Do not be subservient to anyone, especially politicians.

PETALING JAYA: The controversial news portal Malaysia Today was up and running yesterday after being blocked by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM).

The portal was blocked on Aug 27 after Internet Service Providers in the country received notices from the commission to ban the website.

The move by the commission sparked debate because under the Multimedia Super Corridor Malaysia 10-Point Bill of Guarantees, the Government promised to “ensure no Internet censorship.” UNQUOTE

An unlikely tale in the NST

By Shabery & the NST

A Short Fairy Story from the NST

“Traditional media such as television and newspapers no longer have the credibility that they once commanded among readers and viewers.”

That at least is partly true, I would have phrased if:

Traditional media such as television and newspapers now have no credibility whatsoever.

The UMNO controlled New Staits Times reported today, 16th April 2008, that the Information Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek said that the public no longer believed everything they read in the newspapers or heard on television, (most of which are known to be controlled or directly or indirectly owned by political parties inclined towards the government.

"Times have changed. The public does not believe everything that the newspapers write these days.

"Unlike before, when everything said in the newspapers was taken in lock, stock and barrel by readers, today, the public have become more sceptical.

"They want to know who owns the newspaper, who the editors are and so on before they decide to believe them.

"This was not the practice before,"

Shabery reportedly had said that after launching the International Development Journalism programme organised by the Malaysian Press Institute and the Media Studies Institute of University Malaya on 15th April 2008.. He said government-controlled news organisations should instil more credibility in their newspaper articles and television reports in order to regain the public's trust that has been dwindling in recent years. Otherwise, the public would be more inclined to believe everything that the alternative media wrote, he added.

"But all said and done, I would like to say here that traditional media editors are more responsible in what they publish in their newspapers.

(BULLSHIT)

"The same is not seen in the alternative media. That is why there have been instances where the writers from the alternative medium have been hauled to court for writing things as they please without verifying the facts."

(BULLSHIT)

What is the new minister of misinformation and shameless propaganda really saying?

Sounds to me like he is telling the MSM to tell lies more credibly, distort the news in a creative and more believable way.

What tack is he on; this seems to be some form of reverse psychology, or the ‘bullshit baffles brains’ theory.

Best just to totally ignore him, and not to believe the MSM report at face value, learn to read between the lines, and try to sift out the lies to find the hidden truth, or better still turn to the alternative media!

And lastly, read this NST front-page headline story HERE this was published on 16th April 2008, what to make of this convoluted contrived concocted critique?

I'll let you make up your own minds!!!!!!!!!!!

THE NEVER-NEVER-LAND NEWS

Read all about it in the Malaysian mainstream media!

Re the Terengganu state MB tussle:

“What you should know is that a decision has been made in the interest of the people of Terengganu." Abdullah said.

To a question on why there was no compromise for a third person to be Mentri Besar, Abdullah said the details were not for the press to know.

On whether the decision to accept Ahmad instead of Idris was a “loss of face” for the Prime Minister, Abdullah replied: “It’s not a question of losing face because what is more important was that the matter has been resolved. "

Re one of the three recently resigned deputy ministers:

Datuk Ghapur Salleh has quashed speculations that he will jump ship after quitting his post as deputy natural resources and environment minister.

Re not so smart SMART Tunnel long closure:

"Our standard procedure is to evacuate the motorway when the water level in the tunnel reaches 150 cubic metres per second,"
he said, adding that the water had risen to that level at 5.05pm on Saturday.

blah, blah, blah, blah, ad nauseam.

Sifting the truth from the misinformation, propaganda, lies, double speak and spin needs careful dissection and reading between the lines, or as is more often the case, the rumour mill churns out alternative tales and speculation will be rife.

This creates unease, uncertainty and public displeasure.

The rumours and speculation however invariably turn out to be the truer version of current events!

So why waste your time listening to the TV and radio news, or wasting your hard earned money buying the BN controlled newspapers?

Get your information from your local coffee shop, taxi drivers or market stall holders, these are currently the only real news source for those who do not have access to the Internet.

What was the outcome of the PMs Audience with the King?

Well there hasn't been a word in the local mainstream media (on line) as yet, so reading the gaps between the lines, it is obvious that the PM has been unable to get his own way, this is the gist of this report earlier tonight on Malaysiakni:

"updated 6.32pm It is learnt that after an audience with the king, Abdullah had agreed with the appointment of the palace-backed Ahmad Said for the post."

So let's await the morning papers, to see what the spin doctors, the ghost writers, the fudgers and the bullshitters have decided to say.

YOU HAVE HEARD ALL THE BULL FROM THIS GUY

R. Sole, A Barisan Nasional Spokesperson

Tomorrow, Saturday, 8th March 2008, is the day to cast your votes, which candidates you vote for in the Parliamentary and State Legislature contests are your own personal choice, but please think very carefully before you vote.

Make sure you know the implications of voting either for the BN or for the opposition.

The Main Steam Media, which includes the newspapers, the Radio & TV channels and Malaysia's monopoly satellite broadcaster ASTRO, which censors everything, so much so that even the live news, is delayed by several minutes, has been full of BN bullshit.

The opposition parties have had no air time at all, and virtually zero space in the editorial part of the English and Malay Language newspapers (any coverage they have had has generally been negative), the Chinese Language press has been fairer, and has had articles about, and paid advertisements from opposition political parties.

The BN has ruled the roost authoritatively for the past 50 years, they have amended the Malaysian Constitution, as and when they deemed fit, no less than 690 times in that time (nearly 14 times per annum on average), and the motive for these changes has, on the whole, been solely to strengthen the BN's grip on power.

UMNO dominates and rules BN, the other component parties are mere onlookers, silent partners, yes-men and toothless goons like the guy, with hairy lips and foul breath, at the top of the page.

Billions of Ringgit have been frittered away, squandered, wasted, syphoned off and as you all no doubt know, bribery and corruption are so deeply embedded, that they can be found in all tiers of administration.

Malaysia, given the wealth of natural resources, inherent expertise and experience, should be already a well developed country, but instead is a nation which has some of the features and trappings of a developed country, but is essentially still largely undeveloped as far as education, freedoms, democracy, human rights, public services, fair distribution of wealth, education, sustainable development and care of the environment are concerned.

Many citizens are still stricken with poverty, suffering by having to live hand to mouth, eking out their lives one day at a time.

The bulk of the wealth is with a very small percentage of the population, the remainder are neglected, patronised, subsidised (with their own money), and truly marginalised.

Have had enough of this?

The Pride of Malaysia

THIS LETTER WAS IN THE MALAY MAIL
on Wednesday 5 March 2008.

"Shameful show of public affection

DEAR Editor, I WITNESSED an embarrassing incident on Feb 1 at 2pm at Kuala Lumpur Sentral.

While waiting for my friend, I was shocked to see two teenagers hugging and kissing in full view of the public.

Though there were many people watching, they simply ignored them.

To aggravate the situation, the authorities did nothing to stop or warn the couple.

I wonder why such an incident can still occur in this country.

Regardless of what religion one practices, one must obey the laws of the country.

Just because you are a non-Muslim does not give you the licence to misbehave or do whatever they feel like.

I hope that the authorities can do something to stop such incidents from occurring as our country’s reputation and image are at stake.

As for the couple, shame on you. Grow up and think thoroughly before you decide to act on your impulses.

Angry citizen
Kuala Lumpur"

Here we are, a couple of days away from a General Election, and some narrow minded prude, or religious idealist, is wingeing on about a young couple hugging and kissing!

The writer is concerned about what effect such behaviour will have "as our country’s reputation and image are at stake."

Bloody hell, there are a lot more serious things which are affecting Malaysia's reputation, RAPE, MURDERS, INCEST (mainly by Malay Muslims), BRIBERY, CORRUPTION, POLICE BRUTALITY to mention but a few.

The writer says "I wonder why such an incident can still occur in this country."

The writer is obviously a Muslim zealot, who is upset that Malaysia is not as advanced as Saudi Arabia or Iran in the field of Islamic jurisprudence, and how to stifle social interaction!

Get a life, 'Angry Citizen' learn a little about tolerance, freedom and understanding.

A Jimmy Riddle or an Eartha Kit?

In view of the tremendous volume of crap that has been emanating from the mainstream media in Malaysia in the run up to the 12th General Election which will be held on Saturday 8th March 2008, I thought it was an ideal time to post these poems.

Many poems have been written about the urge to use the loo, the two below refer to a 'Jimmy Riddle' (piddle) or an 'Eartha Kit' (shit) when on the train.

Years ago in the UK, [and even still today in some places, including Malaysia], the excrement passed directly to the rail track vertically below, these verses refer to this phenomena.

Potential travellers by the commuter trains in Malaysia, please be forewarned, they do not have any toilets fitted.
Anyone needing to answer the call of nature, including the driver, needs to get off and do his business at a station. Therefore, if the train is stopped at a station for a long period, either it has broken down, or the driver has gone to the lavatory!

Note the longest route from, end to end, Seremban to Rawang, (and sometimes a little beyond) and vice versa, takes a little over 2 hours, and the other route, from Port Klang to Sentul, takes a maximum of 1 hour 22 minutes!!!!!

The Train

While the train is in the station
Please refrain from urination
Have regard for railway property
If you want to pass some water
Go and ask the railway-porter
He will show you the lavatory

While the train is stationary
And you have to go quite heavy
Do not drop your shit in the train
From the carriage you must wander
And the penny you must squander
And relief yourself with might and pain.

Gentlemen Should Please Refrain

Passengers will please refrain
from flushing toilets while the train
is standing in the station for a while.
We encourage constipation
while the train is in the station.
cross your legs and grit your teeth and smile.

Piddling while the train is moving
is another way of proving
that control of hand and eye is sure.
We like to keep our toilets neat
so please don't shit upon the seat,
or, what is worse, excrete upon the floor.

In the carriage there's a chain
and if you pull it, it stops the train
There's a twenty-five pound fine if you’re unwise
So, ladies if you’re being molested
wait until you've been divested
it isn't worth five fivers other wise

Gentlemen will please refrain
from passing water while the train
is standing at the station in full view
'Cos railway workers (Tramps and hoboes) underneath
may cop it in the eyes and teeth
and they don't like it: how the hell would you
(But that's what comes of being underdog.)

Gentlemen please be discreet
when using the toilet lift the seat
the rocking motion may make you miss the pan
and lady passengers following on
may get it on their sit-upon
'cos they can't stand and wee-wee like a man.

Bottoms up!

VIA VOTING, VICTORIOUS VICTORY!

CHECK HERE
Semakan Daftar Pemilih 2008

Vox Populi, Vox Dei

The voice of the people is the voice of God

Public opinion is obligatory

In ten days time, on Saturday 8th March 2008, Malaysians will vote in the 12th General Election, votes will be cast for candidates vying for seats in both the Federal Parliament and the State Legislative Assemblies.

The Barisan Nasional BN (National Front) Coalition, which has governed (controlled and manipulated) with more than a two thirds majority of seats in Malaysia's Parliament and has changed laws at their every whim and fancy, uninterrupted during the 50 years since Independence from the British. The print media and the local radio and television stations, are all BN government controlled are full of election propaganda praising the BN, the BN politicians and their perceived achievements. So much so that the opposition has not had a chance to be heard.

The war of flags, banners and posters, including enormous advertising signs by the side of roads and highways are spreading the BN ‘word’ disseminating self-praise, misleading information and propaganda.

Dubious statistics, hollow promises, veiled threats, unsubstantiated self praising report cards, empty talk and other forms of ‘blowing their own trumpets” by BN are to be seen and heard everywhere.

ASTRO Malaysia’s monopolistic satellite broadcaster, which offers censored delayed news and ‘sanitised’ entertainment programmes for a fee, is also showing BN advertisements over and over and over again, ad-nauseam, so indirectly ASTRO subscribers are unwillingly paying to be brainwashed by Barisan Nasional, how wicked and manipulative this is!

Will the Malaysia voters be mature enough to be able to see the wood for the trees?

Will they see through the empty rhetoric, distortions, lies and skewed statistics?

If they do so, and can vote freely and fairly to deny the BN the two-thirds majority, then there will be democracy in Malaysia for the very first time.

The message to each and every voter is:

VOTE FOR DEMOCRACY BY DENYING THE BN A TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY

VOTE FOR A TRUE DEMOCRACY

REJECT BARISAN NASIONAL’S AUTHORITARIANISM, REJECT LIES, GREED, AVARICE, SELF-ENRICHMENT, AND RACIALISM.

VOTE FOR CHANGE

Then the people can shout out, loud and clear:

VICTORIOUS VOTERS

VOTED VIGOROUSLY,

VOTES VERIFIED,

VILE VERMIN VANISHED

Joy!

TRUTH OR BOVINE EXCRETA?

The Malaysian National News Agency [BERNAMA]

BERNAMA could that be an acronym for-
Bringing Every Reader News Articles Manipulated Always?

"Election and Democracy in Malaysia

Rashidah Abd Ghani, Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, Fri:15 Feb.2008

“The general election will see 10.9 million voters exercising their right to choose a government under the nation’s democratic system.

Nomination day falls on Feb 24, followed by polling day on March 8.

The general election gives the people the right to choose elected representatives, from candidates nominated by political parties or those who stand as independents, in Parliament or the Dewan Rakyat at federal level and the State Legislative Assembly.

The political party which wins the majority of seats in the Dewan Rakyat will form the government at federal level, while the political party which secures the majority of seats in the State Assembly will helm the state government.

Election is an important aspect in a country which practices the system of democracy, like Malaysia.

The election process in Malaysia is handled by an independent body known as the Election Commission (EC), which normally, introduces several changes in every election.

For the current general election, it will be the use of transparent ballot Since gaining independence five decades ago, world leaders have sung praises of Malaysia’s ability to sustain democracy through fair elections.

Such praise, coupled with congratulatory messages which Malaysia normally receives after every general election, reflects the confidence of the world leaders in its election system.

Among world leaders who have praised Malaysia are United States President George W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, as well as leaders of ASEAN member countries.

Social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye has expressed confidence that the coming general election would be more transparent, following measures taken by the EC.

The freedom given to the people to choose their candidates and the acceptance of the result of a general election by all quarters, are indications of a democratic process.

Lee said the introduction of transparent boxes, indelible ink and absence of serial numbers on ballot papers, showed there was democracy in the process. Democracy in Malaysian elections is also evident, with there being no bloodshed, unlike in some countries.
According to Lee, despite stiff competition among political parties contesting for seats, the election process was carried out smoothly as all quarters make an effort to ensure the election was carried out peacefully.” — BERNAMA

NOTE: The 'bolding' of the font and underlining above, is mine.

There is a need to very carefully read between the lines when reading BERNAMA articles and the one above is no exception.

Note the reference to “the nation’s democratic system” or as it has been called before by some ‘democracy Malaysian style’, this Malaysian form of democracy it not really democracy at all, it is more like a benevolent dictatorship-authoritarian style of one party governance.

Note the reference to Election and Democracy in Malaysia, and the Election Commission being as “independent body”, this independence is debatable, if past actions are any measure of the independence of the Malaysian EC.

Note the reference to supposedly congratulatory messages by so called ‘world leaders’ Bush, Blair & Koizumi.

Note that the local personality mentionedLee Lam Thye has expressed confidence’
LLT has been called a turncoat and he now known to be a strong supporter of the Barisan National, in short LLT is a loyal BN ‘yes-man’. His expressed confidence, means that the voters have a very good reason to be concerned!

Is LLT still a social activist?
Nowadays LLT is more like an active Barisan Nationist?

Transparent ballot boxes, third-world style marking fingers with indelible ink, the absence of ballot paper serial numbers, and the lack of bloodshed, do not make an election free, fair and transparent.

There are known cases of persons, especially those within the armed forces, who may have multiple voter registrations, using both their civilian identity card number and their armed forces identity card number, and perhaps a postal vote as well, and many other discrepancies have been highlighted.

Note the references to ‘indications of a democratic process’. Mere indications, are certainly not proof of a free and fair democratic process.

Having read between the lines, my opinion is that the above article is pure and unadulterated spin, propaganda, misinformation or whatever you may like to call it,

I would prefer classify this article, entitled:

Election and democracy in Malaysia"

as,

A HEAP OF PURE BULLSHIT

SAY NO TO BULLSHIT,

SAY NO TO YES-MEN!

SAY YES TO FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS, TRUE DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM OF SPEECH, HUMAN RIGHTS, EQUALITY & NON-DISCRIMINATION,
