A HAPPY AND TOLERANT NEW YEAR TO ALL

In Malaysia, 2009 ended on a somewhat positive note:

The Kuala Lumpur High Court ruled that Christians have the constitutional right to use the Arabic word الله‎ 'Allah' in reference to 'God'.

The High Court also ruled that the government ban on non-Muslims using God's / Allah's name was illegal.

To Christians and to all sensible and tolerant people, the rulings, on New Years Eve, are a victory for freedom of religion in Muslim-majority Malaysia.

May 2010 be the beginning of many changes for the better in Malaysia.

The people have suffered under the BN / UMNO federal government for far too long!

MALAYSIA IS SO VERY VERY EXPENSIVE

Whither Malaysia in 2010 and beyond if still under UMNO/BN control

More bullshit, empty talk, misrepresentation, and goods and services being extremely expensive relative to the meagre incomes * of most people?

This unfortunately accurately sums up Malaysia these days.

*see below for some one to one comparisons

Acronyms are springing up ad nausea, such as:

1Malaysia

National Key Result Areas (NKRAs)

The Government Transformation Programme(GTP)

These, and many other deceptive, devious, daft policies, are resulting in hours of meaningless dumb arse drivel, UMNO/BN is evidently, it seems, trying to hoodwink folks into believing they are reforming themselves for the benefit of the country, but in reality the status qua remains.

Corruption is still alive and well

The rich selfish minority get ever richer

The majority get more and more poor

Najib and his sidekicks still seem to believe that bullshit baffles brains!

BUT THOSE WHO HAVE TRANSGRESSED, HAD BETTER GET READY TO FACE THE MUSIC.

THINGS WILL CHANGE FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE PEOPLE IN DUE TIME.

SOONER OR LATER THE CORRUPT, THE AVARISTS, THE CHEATERS, THE CORRUPT, THE DEVILS IN DISGUISE, THE SELFISH, THE EGOISTIC, THE SELF IMPORTANT, THE USERS OF RELIGION TO CONTROL OTHERS, THE HYPOCRITES, THE DECEITFUL, THE GREEDY, THE VULGARLY RICH AND ALL OTHER REPROBATES WILL, AS AS HAPPENED SO MANY TIMES IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD, SOON FEEL THE WRATH OF THE PEOPLE.

On 18th December 2009 it was reported in The Star:

Almost 50,000 households living below the poverty line will get aid to lift them up under a new poverty eradication programme.

We hope to raise the level of households nationwide that are currently earning RM440 and below by the end of 2010,” said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

If their household income is less than RM440, then these families are well and truly destitute and this brings great shame to Malaysia.

Sharizat should be trying to raise their incomes to a basic minimum of 4,400

In my opinion:

A working person in Malaysia, based on the cost of things, should earn at least RM 5,000 to be able to live to a reasonable living standard.

Why does Malaysia not have a minimum wage?

Things are so expensive if one considers that there are millions in Malaysia who earn less that RM 1,000 per month.

If one compares the wages and price in the United Kingdom with wages and prices in Malaysia on a one to one, unit income to unit cost basis, the outcome is shocking,

WAGES

In the UK the National Minimum Wage (NMW) is ₤ 5.80 per hour.

To explain in more detail, there are three levels of minimum wage, and the rates from 1st October 2009 are:

  • £5.80 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older

  • a development rate of £4.83 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive

  • £3.57 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age.

Thus almost all workers aged 18 and over are entitled to the National Minimum Wage (NMW).

  • The NMW for those aged 22 and over is £5.80.

  • There is a lower minimum wage of £4.83 for those aged 18 to 21.

  • Freelance and temporary workers are entitled to the minimum wage.

  • Workers aged 16 and 17 (except apprentices) are entitled to a minimum of £3.57 per hour.

Workers' average pay must be at or above the minimum wage for each 'pay reference period'.

  • The 'pay reference period' is the worker's actual pay period, up to a maximum of a month.

  • Premium payments (eg overtime at time-and-a-half) cannot be included when calculating whether the worker has been paid the minimum wage. Only the standard hourly rate portion of the overtime payment can be counted.

Hours worked will depend on the type of work the worker does.

NOTE: the NMW increases periodically to take into account the rate of inflation.

Based on a 40 hour working week, the UK minimum personal income will be 928 units of currency per month of four weeks.

In Malaysia there is no minimum wage

In Malaysia an ordinary working person may earn a minimum of 928 units of currency, or perhaps a little more, per month. The poverty level is however mysteriously set at an ridiculously low 440

Now let us compare prices in the United Kingdom and Malaysia.

PRICES [in units of currency]

Petrol costs per litre

UK Vehicle Fuel Prices for Thursday 17th Dec 2009

Avg. Min. Max.

Unleaded :1.08 1.039 1.219

Diesel: 1.097 1.059 1.229

LRP: 1.129 1.059 1.169

Super: 1.149 1.069 1.259

Vehicle Gas

LPG: 0.576 0.499 0.699

In Malaysia current (December 2009) vehicle fuel costs are fixed by the government:-

Petrol RON 97 2.05,

Petrol RON 95 1.80 (may increase up to a reported 'unsubsidised' RM 3.00 on early 2010)

Diesel 1.70

Liquid Gas, Vehicle is 0.68

Highway tolls

In the UK there are none apart from a few short stretches of motorway and a few bridges.

In Malaysia all highways are toll roads, so the cost of driving is very high, one can in fact, at least double the price of the petrol use by an average car for a journey. Toll rates are every increasing too.

Motorcars Prices [in units of currency]

New cars:

UK

HONDA JAZZ Price Range: 10,575 - 13,535

PERODUA KENARI Price Range: 6,620 - 7,418

PERODUA MYVI Price Range: 6,620 - 7,418

Malaysia

HONDA JAZZ (cheapest model) 104,800.00

PERODUA KENARI GX AERO (cheapest model) (M) 41,263.10

PERODUA MYVI (cheapest model) 38,934.10

Second-hand cars:

In the UK, second-hand cars are very cheap, it is possible to buy a roadworthy car for as low as ₤ 500.

In Malaysia, second-hand cars are very expensive, even a ten year old almost junk car can cost over 5,000

Foodstuffs

Foodstuff too are far cheaper in the UK, see the list below and compare the costs you pay in Malaysia, in units of currency:

Bread

Large sliced multi-grain loaf 2.00

Six wholemeal bread buns 0.60

Cheese

Stilton 650 gm piece 5.00

Cheddar cheese 250 gm 2.00

Milk

Fresh full cream milk 2 x 4 pints 3.00

Butter

250gm 1.00

Table margarine 500 gm. 1.10

Ice Cream (luxury make)

Ben & Jerrys 500 ml 3.98

Vegetable Oil (Rapeseed or Sunflower) 1 litre 0.98

Organic potatoes 1.5 kg 1.25

Eggs, medium (12) 1.50

Mandarin oranges (6) 1.40

Apples, small Cox (8) 1.00

Rice (Thai) 1kg 0.99

The list goes on and on.

That is really food for thought!

So who is getting the shitty end of the stick?

Those in Malaysia earning 928 units of currency or those minimum wage earners in UK earning 928 units of currency?

You judge for yourself.

MALAYSIAN BOXER BEATEN & SLASHED BY MEN IN BLACK– JEALOUSY &/or RACISM?

Perabagaran

The Star had a rather brief and toned down report, click HERE

A more detailed report can be read by clicking HERE

Extract:

Mr Perabagaran said the men, all dressed in black, gloated about the attack and asked him: 'With your condition like this, how are you going to go to the SEA Games, do you think there are no boxers in Kuala Lumpur who are better qualified than you?'

'I feel these people were jealous because I was selected for the SEA Games ... It was also sad that nobody from the National Sports Council came to visit me in the hospital,' he added.

It may well have been jealousy, I certainly hope there was no racial element in this despicable incident.

Questions also need to be asked why the Malaysian National Sports Council ignored Perabagan's plight.

This incident brings shame to sports and also to Malaysia.

I suppose it will just be swept under the carpet as is usually the case!

WHITHER JUSTICE & RULE OF LAW IN MALAYSIA?

Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin

SEVEN SENSIBLE QUESTIONS ABOUT ARREST OF EX MUFTI DR. ASRI

Seven questions on the arrest of Asri

Letter from Dr Chandra Muzaffar dated 4th Nov 2009, published on line by Malaysiakini HERE

"I refer to the Malaysiakini report Ex-Perlis mufti freed on bail: Jais feels the heat?

The arrest of former Perlis Mufti Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin raises disturbing questions.

One, isn't it unjust to arrest a person and take him to court while investigations on him are still on-going?

Two, doesn't this smack of arbitrariness and high-handedness, and doesn't it erode established judicial norms and the rule of law?

Three, wasn't the deployment of an extraordinarily large number of Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (Jais) staff and police personnel a show of force which was tantamount to abuse of power?

Four, since Asri has been giving talks in Selangor and elsewhere for a while now, what was the reason for arresting him only at this point in time?

Five, was the arrest a well-orchestrated move by certain religious authorities, backed by some Muslim NGOs, to dissuade the federal government from going ahead with the appointment of Asri as the new head of a potentially influential Islamic 'dakwah' foundation, Yadim?

Six, if this was the motive, doesn't it show that there are religious institutions and groups in the country that are intolerant of views on Islam which are different from theirs, however humane and rational some of these views may be, and however well-grounded they are in the Qur'an?

Seven, isn't such intolerance a betrayal of the respect for differences of opinion, and for dissent, embodied in Quranic thought and in the practice of the Prophet?

It is important to ask these questions because Asri's crude and coarse treatment echoes the authoritarianism of certain groups in other parts of the Muslim world that has led to tension and conflict.

This is why any attempt by any group to monopolise religion and marginalise alternative voices should be checked immediately.

It was one of the causes of the closing of the Muslim mind in past centuries and was partly responsible for the decline of Islamic civilisation."

I put forward three more important questions:-

  1. Are there hidden dark forces behind the arrest of Dr. Asri?
  2. Is it Selangor UMBO and the federal BN / UMNO government who are the puppet masters of some folks in JAIS.
  3. Is the UMNO ex MB Khir Toyo the covert instigator, the 'batu api'?

To me this smells like a component part of the insidious UMNO plot to overthrow the opposition state government of Selangor.

So the answers to the above three questions may be 'YES'!

A Child, her Dog & God

This is a narration about one of the kindest things a person could do, the thoughtfulness, compassion and kind heartedness of this unknown person is something to be treasured and followed by us all.

There is a beautiful selfless and compassionate, anonymous soul working in the dead letter office of the United States Postal Service, read the story below, which I received via email recently.

Meredith with her beloved Abbey

“Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.
She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her.
I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:”

“Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog?
She died yesterday and is with you in heaven.
I miss her very much.
I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.

I hope you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and to swim.
I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog.
I really miss her.

Love, Meredith”

“We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it.
Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven.
That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office.
A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it.
Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies'. Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:”

“Dear Meredith,

Abbey arrived safely in heaven.

Having the picture was a big help.
I recognized Abbey right away.

Abbey isn't sick any more.
Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart.
Abbey loved being your dog.
Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.

Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me.
What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you.

I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.

By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.
Love,
God”

MURDEROUS MALAYSIA , MANY MURDERS MANIFESTING MALE FIDE

Getting away with murder in Malaysia is not that uncommon, if you are well connected you can get actually away with cold blooded murder in Malaysia, read the article from Asia Sentinal by clicking HERE, then you will know what goes on in Malaysia.

read also HERE

It is utterly disgusting, so shameful, undoubtedly unjust and downright despicable, but if has happened, and no doubt will continue to happen, in Malaysia while the BN / UMNO government is in power with apparent impunity and immunity!

Male Fide means:

bad faith, noun: intentional dishonest act by not fulfilling legal or contractual obligations, misleading another, entering into an agreement without the intention or means to fulfill it, or violating basic standards of honesty in dealing with others. Most states recognize what is called "implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing" which is breached by acts of bad faith, for which a lawsuit may be brought (filed) for the breach (just as one might sue for breach of contract).

bad faith noun abjection, abjectness, abscondence, apostasy, artifice, base conduct, betrayal, betrayment, breach of faith, broken faith, broken promise, collaboration, complicity, connivance, cozenage, debasement, deceit, deceitfulness, deception, defalcation, defection, delusion, delusiveness, dereliction, dereliction of duty, deviation from rectitude, deviousness, disaffection, disavowal, dishonesty, dishonor, disingenuousness, disloyalty, disobedience, double-dealing, duplicity, fallaciousness, false pretension, false swearing, falseheartedness, falseness, forswearing, fraud, fraudulency, furtiveness, guile, hypocrisy, ignominy, improbity, indiscretion, infidelity, insidiousness, insincerity, inveracity, lack of conscience, lack of fidelity, lack of principle, lack of probity, mala fides, malversation, mendaciousness, mendacity, misfeasance, misrepresentation, obliquity, perfidiousness, perfidy, pettifoggery, pretense, pretext, punic faith, recantation, recreancy, reprobacy, sedition, spuriousness, subterfuge, subversion, subversive activity, suppression of truth, surreptitiousness, traitorousness, treacherousness, treachery, turpitude, unauthenticity, unconscientiousness, underhand dealing, unfairness, unfaith, unfaithfulness, unfaithworthiness, ungenuineness, unloyalty, unsteadfastness, untrueness, untrustiness, untruthfulness, unveraciousness, unveracity, venality, violation of allegiance, violation of duty

FOR SALE: 1Malaysia

Najib

SPECTATORS WERE EVIDENTLY PAID TO ATTEND THE LONG DELAYED LAUNCHING OF AN ALREADY SINKING SHIP NAMED 1MALAYSIA.

Democracy my arse!

In order to ensure that Najib had a big attendance for his 1Malaysia launching road show in Ipoh, it appears that UMNO employed the often used "Rent-a-crowd' tactic, and provided buses to bus-in spectators who were given a monitory reward (bribe) to attend the road show and listen to Najib prattle and pontificate.

Najib Razak at long last launched his highly-publicised and still largely mysterious and undefined “1 Malaysia” concept before a crowd of at least 30,000 at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh on 18 October 2009.

However, according to some spectators, they had been bused-1n after collecting RM30 coupons, which they exchanged for cash upon arrival at the venue.

If this is not bribery and corruption I do not know what it is!

VOTE FOR BN / UMNO, SUPPORT THE RICH & INFAMOUS

One Example of UMNO' Squandering the Peoples' Money.

RM1.9 million ringgit squandered by UMNO on luxurious overseas vacations pretending to be study visits (Cuti Lawatan Sambil Belajar)

AFTER a gruelling seven days, the public inquiry into possible misuse of funds by Wives of Selangor Elected Representatives Charity Organisation (BALKIS) ended yesterday, leaving those who attended reeling from the revelations.

For more than a week, details of money spent on exotic trips, overseas souvenir- shopping expeditions and gifts for guests attending glitzy functions, kept members of the Selangor State Assembly’s Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) riveted as the figures continued to rise.

The inquiry is the first to be conducted by a State Legislative Assembly in the country. Other States are widely expected to follow suit following the conclusion of the Balkis inquiry.

Yesterday, PNSB chief executive officer Khairiyah Abu Hassan dropped a bombshell when she further revealed how much the State-owned conglomerate had forked out for former Selangor Menteri Khir Toyo and his family’s expenses during the overseas technical visits.

She also drew hoots of laughter when she explained the reasons for the trips.

1. Jakarta and Jogjakarta, Indonesia - 20-24 April 2003
Total cost:
RM201,452

Khir Toyo, his wife, daughter and maid also went on the trip. The purpose was for delegates to study Indonesia ’s batik production, which was supposed to lead to the opening of a batik factory in Selangor.

Cost of airfare for Khir, his wife, daughter and maid:
RM37,695
Miscellaneous costs incurred by the delegates
RM34,404

Spent on two-day rental of a limousine/ Mercedes Benz in Jakarta : RM5,800
Paid for two-day rental of a limousine/ Mercedes Benz in Jogjakarta :
RM5,000

2. Morocco and Paris : 17-24 Dec 2004
(inclusive of four-day transit in Dubai )
Total cost:
RM900,000

The trip, attended by Khir, his wife, children and maid as well as PNSB delegates, was to study Islamic architecture, which could be adopted in Selangor.

The group, which had a reconnaissance trip beforehand, also visited Paris Disneyland to generate ideas for a theme park in Bagan Lalang, Sepang.

They bought tickets to enter the theme park and did not meet any Disneyland representatives.

Cost of the recce team trip: RM366,000

Cost of official trip: RM416,000
Airfare: RM366,000
Ground arrangements RM420,000
City travel: RM70,000
Other expenses RM43,000

3. Honolulu (Hawaii) & Orlando (Florida) - 23 Dec 2007 to 1 Jan 2008
Total cost: RM646,841
Additional cash taken: RM101,000

A technical study on the Bagan Lalang theme park was also the pivotal reason for the trip. The group, comprising Dr Khir, his family and PNSB delegates, bought tickets to DisneyWorld and again did not meet any Disneyland representatives.

A tour guide instead took them around. Cost of Khir’s luxury suite: RM110,000

Cost of six single superior rooms for the delegates: RM171,000
Cost of one twin-sharing room RM24,800

Khairiyah claimed that on the trips, Khir and his wife flew only first class.

The itinerary of the US trip also included visits to Miami Beach , island tours, dinner cruises and a Honolulu city tour.

Khir and his wife, supposed to have been key witnesses, failed to turn up for any of the inquiry proceedings.

Khir would be referred to the Committee of Privileges while Zaharah could be prosecuted under Section 5 of the Contempt of the House Act 2008. The inquiry’s findings will be presented at the next sitting of the Selangor State Assembly in July.

The Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission is expected to investigate possible criminal breach of trust (CBT) once Selcat concludes its findings and police conclude their investigations.

11 Sept 2009 - Khir Toyo was called
for questioning by MACC but he was let go after some greetings and minor questions. Why didn't they keep him overnight like Teoh Beng Hock and then see if he jumps to his death from Plaza Masalam?

Bagan Pinang by-election is tomorrow, on 11 October 2009.

If you love Barisan Nasional / UMNO, then vote for UMNO in Bagan Pinang.

They will also love you for giving up your hard-earned tax ringgit so that they can enjoy a luxurious elite lifestyle, travelling all over the world and living like kings without having to work for a single cent.

Sodomy charges are 'Pathetic' Anwar Ibrahim says

Anwar Ibrahim

Malaysia's opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim calls the sodomy charges against him 'pathetic' but he says the opposition is making plans for the future should he be convicted or die.

Anwar told this to an audience on Monday 5th October 2009 at Johns Hopkins' School of Advanced International Studies in Washington DC, USA, saying that there is no evidence to support charges that he sodomised a 24-year-old male former aide last year.

He also said in a news report, that Malaysia is dealing with 'semi-authoritarian rule' and therefore the opposition must plan for a possible conviction or his death.

Anwar also said, Malaysia must also shake off 'race-based politics' and move to a true democracy.

Isa Samad - tainted by his past deeds

ISA>

At least two Chinese-language dailies have been reportedly ordered not to report on Isa Samad's suspension from UMNO, after he was found guilty of buying votes during the party polls in 2004.

Isa was was suspended in June 2005 from the party for six years, guilty of several charges of political corruption, but subsequently the sentence was reduced by half to three years.

Read all about it HERE, HERE & HERE

In his personal blog, UMNO veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah has made the following sobering and sensible conclusions:

Mindful of the signal sent by the voters of Permatang Pasir and all the elections since March 8, the leadership should now be especially careful in selecting our candidate for Bagan Pinang.

Beyond winning and losing political battles, the party leadership should step back and think about how their choice of candidate reflects upon the party and ultimately upon their own integrity.

Nothing says more about what we stand for and who we are than the kinds of leaders we champion.

If Umno continues to field tainted candidates, the public might justly conclude that it would be better for the the country that Umno lost.

In our now dangerously divided society, it is important not just that elections be won, but that they be won with honour and by honourable individuals; that is to say, in a way that inspires the public’s trust in our institutions and enlarges our common sense of justice.

Only then can the results of elections unite rather than divide us.

That is our larger challenge.”

Isa Samad is undoubtedly a tainted candidate, he also does not appear have credibility and therefore does not deserve to win the by-election in Bagang Pinang,.

However, should he win, he will be likely to be more of a liability than an asset to the causes of unity, transparency and the eradication of bribery, corruption and money politics in Malaysia.

As a result the people of Bagan Pinang in particular, the people of the state of Negeri Sembilan and the people Malaysia as a whole will suffer.

His tenure as MB of Negeri Sembilan was, according to many, a period of stagnation, doom and gloom for the state, development and growth was slow and selective and self-centred cronyism, bribery and corruption appeared to flourish.

VOTERS OF BAGANG PINANG, SAY NO TO ISA
