'Malay Provocation'

Article entitled “Malay Provocation” 19 January 2009

From the New York Times, read it in full by clicking HERE

“One ought to be able to laugh at the absurdity of it.

But the message is one of ignorance, religious and racial prejudice and political opportunism......................................”

The story is sad, but, alas, the majority of open-minded folks will agree that it is factual.

WELCOME TO THE YEAR OF THE TIGER

The Chinese believe that the first king of China was the Yellow King (however he was not the first Emperor of China).

The Yellow King became king in 2697 B.C. therefore China will enter the 4707th year on 14th February 2010.

The Chinese Year uses the cycle of 60 Stem-Branch counting system, and the Metal Tiger is the 27th Stem-Branch in the cycle. Since, (60 x 78) + 27 = 4707, therefore 2010 is the Metal Tiger year, which is the 4707th Chinese Year.

Some folks may insist that the year 2010 is the 4708th Chinese year.

This is a possible explanation as to why this is:

The Yellow King's inauguration was held in the spring of 2697 B.C.

The day which was used as the first day of the year was the Winter Solstice, which was around 23rd December 2698 B.C. Today's New Year’s Day on 1st January was unknown at the time of the Yellow King.

If we were to count those extra eight days in 2698 B.C., then year 2010 is the 4708th Chinese year.

2010 is the year of Tiger.

Some people say 2010 is a Golden Tiger, White Tiger or Metal Tiger year.

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE

May the year ahead be healthy, joyful, harmonious, peaceful, prosperous, unequivocally wholesome and kind.

Wan Malaysia

THIS NEW MONEY, IT SEEMS, DOESN'T WASH
(see below)

DO NOT LAUNDER YOUR MONEY!
Read all about it HERE

Wan

adjectives 'wanner' , wannest

  1. sickly pale; pallid a wan complexion
  2. faint or weak in a way suggestive of sickness or great weariness, sadness, etc. a wan smile
  3. pale, dim, faint, etc. a wan light

The new Wan Malaysia Ringgit 50 currency note is not colour-fast!

Is this perhaps an indication of the state of the nation, this pale remnant of what Malaysia used to be; is Malaysia now truly Wan Malaysia?

Is Wan Malaysia now a pale shadow, a dimming light, an unmaintained nation which thrives on the cheap and nasty, and wallows in misplaced pride?

Sadly it seems this is becoming more and more true as each day passes.

Malaysia’s non-sub submarine

KD Tunku Abdul Rahman

"Float! Float! Float!"

Malaysia’s first submarine is unfit to dive, what a shameful and truly pathetic thing to happen.

KD Tunku Abdul Rahman sailed in to a grand reception last year as the first of two of the same class of vessels commissioned for a total cost of RM3.4 billion (USS$1.4 billion).

Named after the country's first prime minister, it was hailed as an important acquisition for the RMN despite allegations of corruption made by Malaysian opposition parties.

Now it is ‘rosak’ already!!!!!
