"They Don't Care About Us"

MICHAEL JACKSON sang "They Don't Care About Us".

The lyrics and the video are below, read the lyrics and listen to the words while viewing the video.

Do you think that there is a similar situation in Malaysia?

Of course Michael Jackson was singing about the way that the African Americans, in the USA, were treated, but if you substitute instead, all those Malaysians who are outside the inner circle of BN and their crony's, then the situation in Malaysia is quite similar.

The BN government leadership, the 'UMNOputras' and their crony's are, by their actions, showing that they are only thinking about themselves.

Their arrogance, selfishness, self interest, greed, unaccountability, abuse of power, arrogance, intimidation, flamboyance and aloofness clearly show through the wafer thin veneer of pretence, lies, misinformation and political showmanship.

Read between the lines.

Open your eyes.

They certainly don't care about us!

They Don't Care About Us

Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, aggravation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
Bang bang, shot dead
Everybody's gone mad

All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us

Beat me, hate me
You can never break me
Will me, thrill me
You can never kill me
Jew me, sue me
Everybody do me
Kick me, kick me
Don't you black or white me

All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us

Tell me what has become of my life
I have a wife and two children who love me
I am the victim of police brutality, now
I'm tired of bein' the victim of hate
You're rapin' me of my pride
Oh, for God's sake
I look to heaven to fulfill its prophecy...
Set me free

Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
trepidation, speculation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
black man, black male
Throw your brother in jail

All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us

Tell me what has become of my rights
Am I invisible because you ignore me?
Your proclamation promised me free liberty, now
I'm tired of bein' the victim of shame
They're throwing me in a class with a bad name
I can't believe this is the land from which I came
You know I do really hate to say it
The government don't wanna see
But if Roosevelt was livin'
He wouldn't let this be, no, no

Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, speculation
Everybody litigation
Beat me, bash me
You can never trash me
Hit me, kick me
You can never get me

All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us

Some things in life they just don't wanna see
But if Martin Luther was livin'
He wouldn't let this be

Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, segregation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
Kick me, strike me
Don't you wrong or right me

All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us

All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us

All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us

All I wanna say is that

They don't really care about us

THE THIN END OF THE WEDGE FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF MALAYA?

Is University of Malaya (UM) perched on a slippery slope?

Maybe best to be- AWARE. Land Grabbers are On the Prowl Once Again.

It has been reported today, 20 February 2008, that University Malaya (UM) has proposed to develop 11.13ha of the land on which the campus (in a prime area of Kuala Lumpur) is sited, through a joint venture which it has been said, could earn the university at least RM312million.

UM deputy vice-chancellor (academic and international relations) Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Amin Jalaludin was quoted as saying that the land would be developed to benefit staff and students.

“UM is not selling the land. It still belongs to us. All the money received will go to the university. No individual will benefit from the project,” said Prof Amin, who is acting vice-chancellor. (Vice-chancellor Datuk Rafiah Salim is overseas.)

In a statement yesterday, UM said

“It would utilise the land, an under-utilised area (Lot 10476) for development in the most beneficial manner to support our research and educational facilities and infrastructure”.

“The successful completion of the development project is expected to provide UM with a minimum income of RM312mil or the land value of RM200mil plus a share of the developer’s profit, whichever is higher.”

Five companies had evidently submitted proposals to be the joint venture partner with PPC-MINT-GLOMAC getting the nod.

Prof Amin was also quoted as saying that “UM had sought approval from Higher Education Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed on Jan 25 for the development.”

UM has set up ‘UM Holdings Sdn Bhd’,headed by BERNAMA chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Annuar Zaini, to develop the university’s assets, including its 365ha land bank,

Other members of UM Holdings are Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Augustine Ong, Anuar Mohamad, Azhar Haron and Prof Dr Muhamad Zakaria.

Last year, (June 2007) Prime Minister Datuk Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had quashed rumours that UM would be relocating to Sepang, in Selangor, saying that the university’s campus had historical significance.

('Bolding' was done by me)

It all sounds rather ‘fishy’ what do you think?

More misinformation, most probably so; the plot will thicken soon.

Big Money, Big Temptations, Big Pay-offs, who knows, but there are certain to be hungry vultures hovering aloft, eagerly awaiting the ample spoils.

Are we seeing the beginning of the end for UM as we know it?

The wooded area, green and 'unproductive land', (see aerial view below-CLICK ON IMAGE FOR BIGGER VIEW) most likely is the area to be 'developed'.

This forested area is a vital green lung, not only for the university but also for Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, but it looks as though the trees will be sacrificed on the alter of greed; they will be replaced by a concrete jungle.

Satellite image of UM green lung from Google Earth

Note the green lung the "Rimba Imlu" in English this means, Forest of Knowledge. On UM maps like this one, it is marked in English as Botanical Garden, how very very odd. (click on image for full sized view)

I think we are at the thin edge of the wedge stage, and slowly but surely the wedge(s) will be driven in, step by step, splitting the noble University of Malaya asunder. How sad!

Unless the UM Students, the UM Academics, the UM Alumni, and the general public, object strongly, the two faced arse kissers will surely easily get their way, and be laughing all the way to their Swiss bank accounts, which are no doubt already bursting at the seems with ill-gotten gains.

The two faced arse-kissers, must be saying:

"More virgin land to violate! More big bucks for me"

Democracy Malaysia Style, more like SNAFU (Situation Normal All Fucked Up), once again!

Object to this dictatorial autocracy, choose, no demand, true democracy.

AVARICE, GREED, GLUTTONY

AVARICE, GREED &

GLUTTONY

Vulgarity, Vanity and Vice.

Avarice, greed, gluttony,

excessiveness, insatiableness, rapacity,

esurience, do you condone such vile vulgarity?

You should indeed know of these sins

since most of our so divisive two-faced BN leaders

love such vices, living palatial lives aloof, like dictators

Living a life totally out of touch with reality

Whilst the ordinary citizens struggle daily

to make ends meet, just eking out wearily

Meagre incomes, and minimalist lives

Surviving as best there are able, like slaves in shanties

whilst the fat cats bask in luxury, eating from ample tables

The per-capital-income is skewed to a few

and the common man, he is really well and truly screwed

Statistics, lies, misrepresentation and empty talk and ‘pie in the sky’

Blatant lies are spoken without any shame,

Another day dawns, but the shit is just the same

Promises were made, but never became but a name

What can the people do, to reverse the stinking rot?

They really need to improve their lot

Strength in numbers is all they’ve got.

Ask me this, I can but reply, and please take note

Accept no more patronising, empty talk, learn this by rote

Get off your arses, one and all, go out on polling day to vote.

Vote for change to improve your lives

And those of your family, man and wife

People power can change your life.

Deny Barisan National a two thirds majority.

Make them an inferior, insignificant minority.

That will kill their ignorant, pompous superiority

Vote for Victory, Vote for Change,

Vote for Democracy and Freedom,

Vote for Now and For The Future.

On Voting Day Do Your Duty

All Malaysians Arise En-mass

Give the BN a Bloody Big Kick in the Arse!!!!!!

Salute!

Plundering, Profiteering, Bribery and Corruption

Laws that were enacted to proscribe bribery and corruption have a long and glorious history.

A Roman senator could be dismissed from office for the "moral corruption" of bribery, and under the Magna Carta of 1215 the King's officials were prohibited from taking commodities without paying for them, this was an attempt to eradicate corruption.

The payment of bribes to public officials is illegal under a number of international laws, and under the domestic laws of Malaysia and many other countries around the world.

Plundering of citizens and taxpayers’ money for the benefit of the politically powerful, their cronies and many civil servants, is a common phenomenon in many countries, but seems to have reached endemic mega-status in Malaysia.

According to publicly available information, many, if not all mega projects, it appears, are in some way or another connected to the various Barisan National coalition political parties, personalities and their cronies. They may, in addition (as it seems to be the de facto standard operation procedure in Malaysia), be riddled, from top to bottom, with bribery and corruption.

There are many examples of dubious past projects, the 4.6 billion Ringgit Port Klang Free Zone fiasco, (PKFZ) being only one example.

(Two examples of up and coming mega projects are the gargantuan snake like Penang Second Bridge, and the infamous Penang Global City Centre.

There are numerous other examples of mega projects which are located throughout the country, there is also a new phenomena, the quite recently announced gargantuan “Development Corridors and / or Regions, located throughout Malaysia, as follows:-

Peninsular Malaysia.

  • In the North, the ambitious RM177 billion Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) multi billion Ringgit development plan.

  • In the East, the ambitious East Coast Economic Region (ECER)

  • In the South the massive Iskandar Development Region (IDR) ,

and across the South China Sea on the island of Borneo, in East Malaysia.

  • In the state of Sabah, the newly proposed mega billion Ringgit Sabah Development Corridor.

  • In the state of Sarawak, the proposed mother of all projects, the multi billion Ringgit, Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) in the central region, which will need a whopping RM334bil in capital investment to be fully developed.

Without strict controls, accountability, openness and full transparency; mismanagement, skulduggery, underhandedness, as well as bribery and corruption will continue to flourish and Malaysia will continue to suffer financially and will never truly progress.

Uncompleted projects, substandard construction, unmet specifications, slipshod work and poor quality outfitting and supplies will continue to be the accepted norm.

Just look around, you will see cracking buildings, subsiding highways, land slips, potholes in newly resurfaced roads, out of order facilities in most public buildings and facilities, unlit street light and traffic lights, dilapidated government offices and staff accommodation and so on and so forth, ad infinitum.

Even in the national show city of Putrajaya, which is the political and administrative hub of Malaysia, where most the Ministries and Headquarters of Government Agencies are located, the magnificent architectural masterpieces are in some case a mere fancy façade; closer inspection will reveal that they too have suffered from bad workmanship, specifications which were not met, sub-standard materials and lack of care and attention to detail. To make matters even worse, maintenance is, as is common throughout Malaysia, falls far below the standard that is required.

Any visitors to Putrajaya must be aware of misleading road signs, dead ends, roads to nowhere, and a dearth of people to ask direction from. Pedestrians must be especially careful, as pedestrian crossings are few and far between, and even those which are installed are unsafe or virtually unusable.

Cyberjaya, located nearby, and which is the axis of the multi-media super corridor suffers in a similar way.

How to overcome the ruinous problems outlined above?

Not too difficult a job, but it would need corruption free and very strong, leadership, persistence, determination, dedication, strict enforcement, zero tolerance for wrong doing, corruption and cronyism, and severe punitive action against the guilty, no matter who they are, who they know, or how much money they have.

Only when bribery and corruption are eradicated will Malaysia and her peolple, truly progress, develop and eventually reach the status of a fully developed nation.

Fearlessly Forward without Fear or Favour, would be perhaps be a good motto for true progress.

Kampai!
