The reason Saiful wasn't charged, according to Syed Hamid

The Quoted Source of the Political Bullshit

Can you believe these inane statements by Malaysia's Minister of Home Affairs, as reported in the Star, he is, it seems, telling everyone that the case against Anwar Ibrahim is trumped up and is politically motivated.

Syed Hamid is obviously unfit to be a minister, let alone the Minister of Home Affairs

It all sounds like political bullshit to me!

Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan is not being charged because he is the key witness in the sodomy case against PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Home Affairs Minister Syed Hamid Albar reportedly said.

He said that in a criminal justice system, when a person comes forward to report on a matter, the person would be protected.

"Usually, the victim would be given protection," said Syed Hamid.

He also said that Anwar is innocent until proven guilty by the court.

"However, it doesn't mean that we can't take action against him just because he is a VIP," he said.

He also advised the public not to jump into any conclusion before the court decides the case.

In the police report he lodged on 28th June 2008, Saiful had claimed he was forcibly sodomised.

Anwar is however being charged under Section 377B (click for the Star story) of the Penal Code, which implies consensual sodomy.

“If it is “suka sama suka” (consensual), why was I the only one being charged? If it is consensual, both should be charged,” Anwar said after coming out of the Sessions Court in Jalan Duta, after being charges with sodomy on Thursday, 7th August 2008.

Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan came to my house to see me, admits Najib

Najib

The following has been compiled from various news reports, including some from Malaysian National News Agency BERNAMA.

Read it with an open mind, and don't forget to read between the lines!

Then come to your own conclusions

At a news conference on 3rd July 2008, Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak admitted to having met Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, because the 23 year old wanted to reveal that he had been sodomised by Parti Keadilan Rakyat advisor Anwar Ibrahim.

Najib said that their meeting was the first between them and it took place at his (Najib's) residence several days before Mohd Saiful, who he said appeared to be highly traumatised, had made a police report on the sodomy allegation on Anwar.

"I received his (Saiful's) visit in my capacity as a leader and his as an ordinary citizen who wanted to tell me something. I did not know him before this," Najib told a press conference at his office in Parliament.

Saiful made a police report at the police beat base at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on 28th June 2008 stating that he had been sodomised by Anwar Ibrahim at a condominium in Damansara on 26th June 2008.

When asked why, Saiful, a former aide to Anwar had come to him regarding the matter, Najib said that he did not know, but assumed that the youth needed his help after he had said that he knew one of his officers.

Najib said Saiful had been to his office to meet one of his officers regarding a scholarship application but he (Najib) had not met Saiful then.

When asked whether he believed that what was said by Saiful had any basis, or otherwise, Najib said initially he was also unsure that what had been said by Mohd Saiful was true or false.

"I wouldn't dare say, I thought he looked genuine because he was afraid. His hands were cold. But I am not brave enough to make a conclusion. I told him to make his own decision," Najib said.

Najib denied that that he had advised Saiful to make a police report.

He said that during their meeting, Saiful had told everything that had happened to him.

Najib also denied allegations that he had conspired against Anwar.

When asked on what was told by Saiful, Najib smiled and said, "Oh, there were many stories, I might tell one day but after the court case."

Najib also said he was ready to give evidence if this was needed, following his exposure.

"Yes, I am ready. But what is there to ask? I merely heard his story. What is more important is the explanation from him, not from me," he said.

When he was asked why he felt that Anwar was using the case to launch this attack against him, Najib said he was unsure.

"I do not know, perhaps he thinks I am behind this boy (Saiful ) but the truth is there is no conspiracy, he came to see me alleging that he had been sodomised by Anwar," Najib said.

Regarding whether, or not, he was willing to subject himself to further investigation on the case, Najib instead of answering, posted a question to the reporter, asking him that to give a good reason why he should be investigated.

"The police have investigated the entire Altantuya case so they know everything," Najib said.
